Hi Everyone!
I'm new here, but have already learned so much from reading all the posts. My husband and I have two children, aged 9 and 10. We are going to DW for only the second time on November 28th. We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge and are so excited! Back to my question - I would like to purchase a new digital camera but am not sure what to buy. I have a Kodak Z740 but am not at all happy with the pictures taken in low light conditions and indoors, especially at places like auditoriums, fireworks, nightime shots, etc. I think I need a camera with image stabilization or something and I also want something with a big zoom as we like to take Nascar photos, etc. I have an old camcorder and would like to upgrade that as well to something light and able to record at night well, etc. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi and Welcome
Right before we left for Disney we purchased the Sony Handycam DCR-HC26, I did a little research and it was rated pretty well. We got it the night before we left and still were able to figure it out why we were there. It did awesome at night shots for fireworks and we taped all of Fantasmic it has night vision. It's really small and has a side view finder. SO you could actually walk and carry it in your hand and just video as much as you wanted.I think it was around $300, my DH went to some electronics store on his lunch break. But if you shop around and look in your local BJ's or COSTCO you might be able to get it a bit cheaper.
I am not crazy about my digital camera I would just look into one that has a long battery life. I had to keep changing batteries because I was taking a lot of pictures.
Have a great trip!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Yesterday I bought a new camera, needed one that could take decent shots of motion in a gym. And have a good zoom. Got a Panasonic DMC TZ1, open box so only $179!:cool1: There is a new model out ends with a three but thats about $350. Used the camera last pm at martial arts practice and was able to get nice action shots from across the gym! It has tons of modes, including fireworks and night shots and it shoots video and audio(haven't tried that yet) I have 13 more days to play with it but I don't think I'm giving this one up!:goodvibes

I would love to read on this photography board but I am kinda new also. Can you tell me how to find it? Any help is appreciated!

HI I will be at Disney during that week that you will be there!!! I have a Sony Digital Camera and absolutely love it.. My mom has a casio and it takes really great pics!!!! GL

We have the Sony Handicam DCR-DVD305, it is AWESOME. It records onto mini dvd discs and also will take pictures that go onto a seperate memory card. You can take the memory card out and put it in your computer (if you have the XD drive) We took it to Disney last september and it was great.

The quality of videos is wonderful, but the pictures it take can be fuzzy if it's night. It would be good to have a nice digital camera too if you can get both.

I have both a Sony digital camera and HandyCam. Love them both! Picture quality is good with both. the camera is acutally bigger than my HandyCam.

I have a sony digital camera and i love the pictures it takes, they come out so clean and look really good once printed out too

The Sony Cybershot is a really nice, easy to work digital camera. Depending on what model you buy, they can be pretty affordable too. We have a 5MP model that we purchased 3 years ago and its still going strong. The only thing we like more is our Digital SLR (Canon Rebel XTi). Have fun camera shopping!!

Just don't get a drop of water on the cybershot- or it will die. I took it to NY awhile back and it barely got wet and it never functions well now.
