Hello,

We are planning a trip in late April 2012 and are interested in advice on the best cabin loop to request. Any advice? Can you walk from the 2800 loop to the bus stops at the front of the Fort? Are there advantages to other loops that should be considered. I understand we aren't guaranteed anything but feel it is worth a shot to make a request.

Thanks so much. I have really enjoyed browsing the camping section of the Dis boards!

Okay, so I have never stayed at the Fort....YET, but I've been lurking here enough to know a few things. As you said, no guarantees on loop requests, but if you say that you desire to be near something in particular, you may get it. For example, a bus stop, comfort station, pool, etc. As an FYI, just by looking at the following map (link below), all cabin loops are far from the boat dock. Check out the following map, and look at the location of things that may be important to you. If you have a full cabin with 6 people, you may want to be close to a comfort station to have access to an additional shower and laundry. If you are traveling with someone who is handi-capable, you may want to be right by a bus stop if they can't walk too well or are in a wheel chair. Good Luck

Edited to include two additional sidenotes....the map link I provided may be outdated, so go to the disney website for the latest map. Also, keep in mind that you could conceivably do a TON of walking at FW. Some loops are smaller than others, but I would suggest that you get a cabin near a bus stop if anyone in your group can't walk that far.

Hi and welcome to the best place at WDW, you will love the Fort. We have stayed at the cabins for the last 8 years and would not stay any place else.Check out all the info here at the top of the page, and Dis Resort Info. Also check out www.allearsnet.com . All the cabin loops are about the same except in size and all have a bus stop located close to the end.
Yes you can walk to the Outpost bus stop from 2800 also 2700 is close. I have walked from the Outpost to the Settlement many times it is about 2 miles. From 2100 to either place is about 1 mile. The 2100 loop is the nearest loop to the Meadows trading post, pool and campfire also a comfort station with showers. 2500,2600 and 2700 are close to the Wilderness pool and laundry room.
You can request a loop when you reserve a cabin or just request near a bus stop or pool, ect.
Just to let you know the internal buses are great and run about every 10 minuets so you really don't need to walk. Both the purple and the orange buses service the cabins.
