As a longtime poly lover I did not expext to ever book anywhere else, however with all the drama/construction rumors for the next years I am forming a back up plan. What are the TPV rooms like at the grand? Which building is the best? Any pics form the balocony of TPV? Thanks!

I am in the same boat....we wanted to do our big trip with grandparents at the poly next year but I don't want to risk construction so we are planning at the grand floridian villas!!! Never thought I would be excited to stay here but I really am ! Fingers crossed we can book it!!!

Me too, I never liked GF but now that I am forced to pick beetween there or contp. I have landed on GF. Hard to get any good TPV pics, perhaps I just dont know where to look.

We've had two great TPV rooms at GF - Sago Cay and Boca Chica.
One TPV room that was just ok - in Big Pine Key.

Personally, I would opt for a MK view in either Conch Key or Boca Chica depending on your preference.

The Conch Key MK view would look straight ahead at the castle and the monorail departing the GF to your left. Boca Chica, on the other hand, would give you a better view of Seven Seas Lagoon and the CR/BLT, but the castle may only be visible off to the side as opposed to straight ahead. Both of these longhouses are centrally located to different things-- both quite close to the main building, boat dock, and courtyard pool.

The MK view at Sago Cay is quite similar to that from Conch Key, but that longhouse is just slightly farther out. It is closer to the bus stop and QS restaurant if either of those are important to you, though. Just depends on your personal preference. I would not hesitate to stay in a MK view room at Sago.

For the record, we are big Poly fans too and may be in the same boat for our trip this January. We haven't been to the Poly in about ten years and would love to return for that reason, but have had two fabulous stays at the GF in recent years! Don't fret-- the GF grounds and lobby are gorgeous and the Poly is just a quick walk away if you still miss it. :thumbsup2

We are in the same situation! LOL

I was always convinced I would book at CR one day and now I find myself leaning away from it....my Dh says it is too sterile looking and too much like any other hotel.

With three little girls I think they will LOVE the regal, fancy look of the Grand Floridian. Fingers crossed I can get a studio rented!!!

Is the studio that much larger than standard room? I heard the blt studios are really tight

I dont know how big a studio is compared to a reg room but pricewise there is no comparison between renting points and booking rack rate. I have heard the blt are the smallest of the studios though and the ones at gf look really nice!!
