1) Charactars would just be a bonus for us; interested in which buffet has better offerings...particularly meat/chicken for my guys;)

see that Storytellers has prime rib & meyers lemon chicken (sound good); although Goofys sounds fun (similar to Chef Mickeys? )

2) Steakhouse 55, rather pricey; is it worth it as a splurge? Notice they have a prix fixe offering, sounds reasonable...not how sure a "petite" NY Strip would be...anybody order it before?

My husband (huge meat-eater) loves the Storyteller for dinner. I love it too, I am not a fan of buffets, they have a regular menu you can order off of. I do have to say that the bread pudding dessert they had in the buffet was FANTASTIC!!!

I personally love Steakhouse 55! Yes it is expensive, and you have to be prepared to splurge. But it is such a great experience. Courses are not rushed, service is supurb and the food is great! I say if you are willing to splurge this is a great restaurant! The wine is great too! And the desserts! YUM! they have a vanilla bean creme brulee and this white souffle cake that was so incredible!

it's rare to find a place that offers both buffet & menu service

sounds so relaxing and indulgent;) ; think i'll book it...i just was in shock seeing a baked potato for $6 lol

I have done the buffet at storyteller's and it was awesome! the food was really good. I also ate breakfast at steakhouse 55...it was really a spur of the moment decision, and turned out to be one of the best restaurants of the trip. I would highly recommend that one for breakfast!

We really enjoyed both buffets, the boys like Goofy better for b-fast and Storytellers for dinner. We will do both this next trip. The service was very good at stoytellers even though it was a buffet, the waiter was great.

i didn't even consider breakfast, might be a plan for us:idea:

we don't usually do breakfasts before amusement parks, just an early lunch...i'm thinking the 3 hour time difference & figuring we'll be famished if we wait until even 11:30 a.m (2:30 pm EST)

how do you guys from the west coast ever manage to get up so early for AM EMHs in WDW:confused3 has to be a schock to your system

I can recommend Storytellers for breakfast. You can choose from the menu or the buffet. Their Banana Stuffed French Toast is wonderful! You would also get the characters by doing breakfast.

Short answer: We don't! We have no trouble whatsoever getting to DL as early as 7:00 a.m. At WDW, its a good day if we get there by lunch! It starts with a long flight, not getting in until midnight and it just goes from there. And I live in the mountain time zone but even that two hours just kills my family every morning at WDW! You will be in good shape to get to DL first thing, its even more important at DL to get to the park early than at WDW in my opinion. So many locals go to DL you have to beat them in to enjoy some quiet time!

Goofy's is similar to Chef Mickey's. Storytellers has a much more relaxing atmosphere. I think they are both good, it would be hard for me to pick! Also, the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at the Paradise Pier Hotel allows you to do the buffet or order off the menu. Goofy's is strictly buffet.

Storytellers is bar far a better choice if you are looking for great food. Goofys is more fun. Storytellers is beautiful and the atmosphere is very nice. At breakfast you do get characters - not the run of the mill characters; no princess or mice. My DS, age 10, thought they were great and actually wanted photos with them. So I guess it depends what you are looking for. We have PS for Storytellers this trip but not at Goofys (per DS request).

thanks again, hope to try them both

laughingly figure i'll be up when it's still dark waiting for the parks to open, should wind up being more relaxing in the am:goodvibes

wondering if we get really hungry & want to duck out of the parks, if it'd be easy to drop in for late lunch @ ST without an ADR? Thinking, probably not, since it's the week of July 4th. Guess we could always call from the parks jik?
