best budget stain remover- baseball pants

Don't most of the stain removers people have recommended good for certain kinds of stains? Like Lestoil is for grease. Hydrogen peroxide is good on blood & protein stains.

Does red clay dirt have grease in it? :confused3 I would think a good soaking first to melt the clay into a sludgy compound that can then be lifted off by water would work for most of it.

Hmmmm...I've used hydrogen peroxide successfully for mud, grass, and wine/juice stains as well as for protein stains. It seems like a pretty good all-purpose stain treater. Could be that I just got lucky though. :confused3

Another vote for the Fels Naptha bar. It's the only thing that gets the dirt out sometimes. Cheap too and lasts a long, long time.

Fels Naptha it is a bar soap found in the laundry stain removal isle. It only cost $1 and it works great. We live in Ga and I have to deal with the red clay. I just rub this stuff on and let it sit for about 5 minutes and the wash it. Perfect every time and I have one kid that likes to slide even when it is not necessary.

It is safe to use in an HE washer because it does not suds up. In fact I use it to also make homemade laundry detergent.

I use this too! Works great!

I(yes me and not the wife) used plain old liquid tide.

poured directly on the stain and a little scrubbing, then I let it soak with like colors for at least a couple hours.

Ivory Bar soap (scrub scrub scrub)

Also, the college baseball team uses cola one can right in the wash. DH said they used to do that in the army as well.

I hate red clay! We use Cascade. It seems to work the best. I always have something soaking in Cascade this time of year. I have an HE washer and it does not bother it.

I will be trying the Scotch Guard trick.

I spray with Shout and let sit for a while, then rub out stains out as much as I can. Then I pour a small amount of Tide on and repeat.
