I need to really do something special with my eyes for a party this weekend and since I have no skills I thought maybe some really great mascara would help.:cool2:

I'm looking to add volume and almost make it appear I have false lashes on.

Can anyone suggest a budget friendly mascara that I could pick up at a drug store or Ulta?

Thanks

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara works pretty well. Use an eyelash curler first, then do the tops AND bottoms of the upper eyelashes. Wait a few seconds, and repeat.

I really like L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara. It really makes my thinning lashes look a lot fuller. Millions swear by Maybellines Great Lash and it couldn't be cheaper but I can't wear it, it smears under my eyes. Have you tried fake lashes? If you can't apply them, you could get your hair sylist to do it. Have fun!

I am a fan of Sonia Kashuk mascara at Target. Not had luck with Maybelline but like the brush better for coverage with the SK one. And it's price competitive too.

YouTube is your friend. :goodvibes You can find numerous videos on how to do your eyes. I hadn't worn makeup in so long a friend suggested YouTube and I was able to recreate (easily) a look for a wedding.

Two suggestions: Maybelline The Falsies and Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion. I think Maybelline Falsies deliver better results, but can be more challenging to apply. It dries really fast so it can get clumpy if you wait too long between coats. However, if you are quick, you can get some amazing results. I am a makeup junkie and nothing I try looks exactly like false lashes, but Maybelline Falsies look pretty darn good.

If you aren't super comfortable with fast application, Cover Girl's Lash Blast Fusion might be better. It doesn't dry as fast and is easier to apply. It is the one in the purple tube and is a combo of lengthening and volumizing. I think it is definitely one of the better mascaras I have ever tried.

Half the battle is proper application. If I am going for a super full look I will curl my lashes. I use a hair dryer and warm up my curler for 3-5 seconds. Curl lashes. I take out the wand and use a tissue to remove excess product to avoid clumps. Start at the roots and really zig zig the wand back and forth to get the mascara at the roots. Do this from the outside to the inside of the eye. Do not let the product dry before applying another coat. If you do, it will clump. I do two or three applications. I normally don't use mascara on the bottom lashes, but if I decide to, it will only be very lightly.

I also will combine mascara if I want a certain look. For example, Maybelline's Illegal Lengths is an amazing lengthener, but doesn't hardly volumize. Sometimes I apply Illegal Lengths first and then the Falsies for volume.

Hope that helps!

Maybelline has several formulas that will do what you want. I have used Falsies, Mega Plush, and Colossal Cat Eyes...I didn't like any of them the first time I used them, but after a couple of days you get the hang of it to use them to their full extent.

There is one called Illegal Length that I can't remember if I've tried or not (probably have) that would work also.

But, they are all very similar. I think the Mega Plush is my least favorite which is the one I'm using now...it is great for separating the lashes and making them look soft and it does add a little volume to them but I like the other formulas better.

LOVE Loreal's Double Extend in the red and white tube. It actually adds extentions to your lashes and WILL NOT SMUDGE AT ALL. It removes with just warm water at the end of the night. I'm a photographer and need a mascara that won't smear and smudge when I put my camera to my eye.

Maybelline Great Lash is the best! It lasts all day and does not flake. I have been using this for years and the more expensive brands do not compare.

I've never really liked Great Lash, but I *love* Maybelline Falsies -- especially the newer Flared version. I use the waterproof kind. It never looks clumpy or over-thick, but really does make your lashes look so full and long and amazing. I'm a sucker for trying new mascaras when they come it, but since Falsies came around I always end up back at it.

I second the Loreal Double Extend. You use the one end (white) to make these tubes/extensions on your lashes. The other end puts the color on them. I have short stubby lashes,a nd it works great on mine. I don't use it every day becasue I have a bad habit of rubbing my eyes (and rubbing the tubes off!), but I do use it for special occasions.

I second Cover Girl LashBlast Fusion! I've tried Maybelline Great Lash a few times, and although some people swear by it, it didn't do anything to excite me.

LashBlast Fusion is comparable to Diorshow by Dior, but at a fraction of the price.

Consumer Reports rated this a #1 buy a while back. I like it but then I'm not too picky.

Rimmell Extra Super Lash. I have tried way too many mascaras over the years and this one is the best and it's only $2.99!!!
