What is the best book to read the stories behind the details that the Imagineers add to their designs? For instance, I read somewhere about the lights that were placed in the windows at the Hall of Presidents to represent Paul Revere's ride. I am sure there are so many details that go unnoticed and would love to know what these are to be on the lookout for them.

Thanks!

of books called "The Imagineering Guide to ..." There is one for each park.

Hidden Magic of Disney has some interesting information. A lot of it I had read before but some was new. I glanced at the planning guide of the same name and it information on POFQ, where we typically stay, that I had never seen before.

The Complete Walt Disney World has some great descriptions of rides. The Haunted Mansion details are daunting due the sheer volume of facts. I also found the Splash Mountain description helpful. They also do a good job of identifying touches to look for in the park. This is done by a husband wife team and I have not seen the 2013 version yet. Much of the stuff you are looking for would still be valid.

to add another source. Jim Korkis is a self avowed Disney historian that has taken time to interview as many of the original people as possible. He writes some items for allears.net. The most recent newsletter was about the influences for DHS. It is not as detailed as the Imagineering guides but I learn from them. His writing usually starts with WDW Chronicles.

I know he has older articles on Jim Hill Media also but have not gone back to read them yet
