Just getting ideas for where to eat (and any extras) for our lil guy's birthday. He will be turning 2 while we are there. MK is listed as the park to avoid for that day. I was thinking maybe Hollywood & Vine because he should know those characters from his older siblings watching. I am really drawing a blank. I've heard Chef Mickeys is the place for birthdays but the reviews have been so bad. We are paying OOP (staying in a villa on points) so I'm not paying $$$$ for awful food. I know he's only 2 but its a family celebration.

So if you have celebrated a little boys bday in Disney where did you eat? Trex is on our list, wasn't sure about doing for his actual bday. Any help would be soooo appreciated!! Thx :-)

Just fyi, if you do a buffet he will eat for free. If you eat at a non-buffet restaurant he will either have to eat off your plate or you'll have to buy him a separate meal. I loved eating at Hollywood and Vine, we actually went twice on one trip. The food was good for a buffet and the characters are fun. Every 20 minutes or so the characters do a little singalong and kids can get up and dance and sing with them.

I love Hollywood & Vine, but if considering Chef Mickey's go for breakfast instead of dinner. Depending on where you will stay, what park for the day, and what characters your DS likes best will make your choices a little easier. :goodvibes

We had a great time at H&V. The food was great and the character interaction was the best out of any character meal we have been too. We went for lunch. I also had dinner at Chef Mickeys which was ok but it is a lot more crowded in there. There wasn't much room for the kids to get up and hug the characters and some of the meetings were a bit rushed. At H&V we saw all the characters twice and the kids got up and danced with them. They loved it.

We enjoyed TRex too but it is very loud and the dinosaurs do frighten some of the little ones. I thought DS (2) would be scared but he was ok as long as we didn't get to lose to them.

H & V is not a character meal for dinner in the evening. It is also one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW I will never return to for dinner.

If you are looking for an exciting experience (not great food) for your 2 yo birthday clelbration I would go with Chef Mickey's. It is great fun for little ones. If the food is more important than the celebration I would consider somewhere else.

If you are hoping for extras, your best bet is to plan for it and pay for it. This is the only way to be certain. You can order a birthday cake and have it delivered to the restaurant you choose. I saw just this week that the Disney owned restautrants in Epcot are now doing this also. You can also order things from the Disney Florist for your room. The Disney website no longer even allows you to enter celebrations. So even things reported in the past may no longer be available but for sure there is no way you can count on it.
Good Luck
