Sorry if there is a thread about this, the search function isn't working for me. I want to order DD8 a cake for her birthday in November during our trip. We just booked with the special code and have not decided on restaurants, but will soon. What would you suggest would be a good restaurant to celebrate her 9th birthday and order a special cake? I am not planning on celebrating the entire 10 days, just one night and take her to BBB for a makeover. We have been to CRT and I thought of that for dinner, but would like other options since it's 2 dining credits. Thanks!!!

I honestly don't think you will have many options. We are going at the end of November. I've had ADRs since May, but tried to make a few changes today and there was very, very, very limited availability.

You may have to go with some "overlooked" restaurants, like Kona Cafe at the Poly or Concourse Steakhouse at the CR. I had luck gettting in these places today. GOOD LUCK!

I know it's not the same as making our ADRs at 180 days, but we do have some decent choices. Going at the end of Nov. is very different from the week we are going. We leave the 9th, which is a slower week and we will be flexible with our dining times. We sometimes have lunch as the bigger meal of the day than dinner. I will also call and check closer to our trip, and there will be cancellations. We went in 2005 during free dining and were able to secure ADRs week before the trip due to cancellations. This time we could not make a decision on a trip until now, so we will just go with the flow...

We just returned from our Disney vacation 2 wks ago. My DD turned 5 while we were there and we had her birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's. Here's a picture of the cake I ordered:

Breebella,
That photo is precious! I hope she had an absolutely wonderful
birthday! :)

breebella,
Did you order that cake from Chef Mickey's or somewhere else and have it delivered? We are celebrating my son's third birthday at Chef Mickeys and I wanted to order a cake. Also, what size is that cake, can you order it with a different picture, and did you provide the candles or did they come with the cake? Sorry for all the questions, just want to be prepared. Thanks

I ordered the cake directly from the Contemporary. I have the # at work and can post it 2morrow if you'd like. They asked me how many people the cake would be serving and I said 4, so I think I got the smallest cake, it may have been 8" or 10" not sure. They said they would put whatever picture you want on it except for Pooh characters. I ordered Belle because my daughter's name is Isabella and we call her Belle.:thumbsup2 I didn't have to bring candles, they provided everything and brought the cake out and pluto sat with her as everyone sang. It was very special. Also, they will ask you what kind of cake and frosting you want. I chose vanilla cake, white chocolate frosting and choc mousse filling. I thought for $16, it was a great deal.

Also, are you staying on-site? We did (Coronado Springs) and my daughter also received a birthday balloon bouquet and an autograph picture of Minnie delivered to the room. We didn't ask for this, they just did it.

Thanks brebella, I would love that number. Your daughter is beautiful, it looks like she had a wonderful birthday. We are going to be staying at the WL and I hope my son gets balloons. I let them know when booking it was his birthday and I plan on mentioning it at check in when I ask for a birthday button.

2 weeks ago on my DD's 13th b-day, we had dinner at the Princess Dinner in Norway. We loved it there!! They gave her a card signed by all the princesses & a b-day cupcake. I had not ordered a cake at dinner because we were having one on our Illuminations Cruise later that evening.

Thanks for the tip. I just booked this dinner later on in the week and that may be a good option.

What a great picture!!! I love the cake as well. Can you order this kind of cake for all the restaurants? I am thinking about either Ohana or Princess Storybook dinner as her birthday dinner.

I think someone wanted to the phone number to order a special cake at Chef Mickey's. Here is is: 407-824-1520

Also, Disney has a main number to order cakes from other resorts and restaurants. The cake ordering hotline is 407-827-2253

We are going to be at WDW for my DD's half birthday and I love this thread, just gave me goosebumps with excitement (I hope I'm not the only one that celebrates half birthdays:cheer2: ) I'd love to hear a few more ideas of good restaurants to celebrate a child's birthday. Anyone else? Brebella, thanks for sharing your pictures, looks like your DD had a magical time, and I can just picture my Felicity beaming on her day too! Thanks for all the info!

Thanks for all the information. There are so many choices, that I have a hard time deciding. Here are the ADRs I have so far:

Boma for dinner
Ohana for dinner
Coral Reef for Lunch
Akerhus for dinner
Hollywood and Vine for breakfast
SciFi Dine-In for lunch

I'm thinking about adding 1900 Park Faire for dinner and ordering a cake or chocolate Cinderella slipper from the GF bakery. The other restaurants listed above: what special things would they offer for her birthday? Again, I don't want to celebrate every day, just pick one meal as her birthday dinner. DS might get tired of the birthday celebrations otherwise, LOL

We have gone for Max's Birthday twice... his 4th and 5th. The first one was at Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner, which was nice, but nothing too special (free birthday cupcake and a little fanfare) and last time we went to Coral Reef and arranged for the diver to dive to our table with a special "Happy Birthday" sign. That was very cool and he just loved it. He had already been thrilled to see other divers in the tank, plus the sealife, of course. But to have his own special attention was just amazing for him. He was surprised and excited about the whole thing.
