I would like to take my Son fishing while at WDW and/or Vero. I'm not looking for an excursion, just a lake or pier where we can do our best Tom Sawyer/ Huck Finn imitations. What are my best locales? Can I rent poles, purchase bait, etc. Any advice is appreciated.

Over at the old Dixie Landings (now called something else...) there is a place to rent cane pole's & fish from a dock... it's a lot of fun, we've done it with our kids!

I have heard that the canal in Fort Wilderness have great fishing.:smooth:

At Port Orleans Riverside, the CM will even bait the hook for you. The fishing hole there is crystal clear, and as perfect a place as you can imagine.

The Ole Fishin Hole at POR is great. You rent the poles by the 1/2 hour and buy the bait. I took my daughter when she was younger and she loved it. She did catch a few fish (of course you have to throw them back) and it was great not having a long excursion. It was just enough for us. Enjoy!:teeth:

I thought I remember a post not too long ago that stated you could fish Crescent Lake over on the Boardwalk side. I think there is some place you can even rent poles as well.

Old Key West must have great fishing, because every time we have stayed in the building 55/56 area, there are folks fishing right in the canal. I think they mostly catch bass. One of our guests went on one of the excursions from OKW once too. It had lots of kids in it.

Thanks to all for the advice. Sounds like I have several great options and that my Son and I will have a blast. Thanks again.
