We get Lands End towels when they run 30-40% off entire purchase sales. They've lasted quite a few years.

I recently bought the ones at Costco and they got noticeably fluffier and softer after they were washed--I use a tiny bit of soap and no fabric softener. We really like them.

Go to the back of the towel section at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Find the clearance shelf. There are 30.00 high end towels there, for just $5.00. I've had them for 2 years now, and they are AMAZING. Not great colors, thats why they're on clearance, but color is not important to me, just the thickness and softness after washing.
