What to you feel is the best type of backpack or fanny pack for the park? We will have a stroller to store most things so it is just a backpack for a water bottle and odds and ends while standing in line.

I like using a small camelbak back pack, even if I'm there with a stroller. If it is a hot day, I fill the water bladder with ice cubes, for super cold water all day.

I don't have any recommendation for a specific brand/model of backpack to use in the park. I would go with something that is comfortable and easy to take on and off. I would look for something that is lightweight when empty and potentially expandable if you end up accumulating a lot of souvenirs.

I love... LOVE my half pint Jansport bags. I own about 5 of them and take them everywhere from parks, to fairs, to parades.

They're small enough not to be considered a real backpack - more a purse, and large enough to carry two bottles of water, a wallet, and a thin shirt/ sweatshirt comfortably.

They have all sorts of fun designs and it's a Jansport brand. Jansport has a lifetime warranty on all bags. If they're damaged they will either fix the damage (Re-zippering, re-sewn bottom, etc.) for simply the cost of shipping it back to them or they'll replace it and send you back a brand new bag.

I had a really old Jansport leather bottom bag I bought at a goodwill I'd had for ten years. I LOVED this bag. But the bottom ripped out and the straps were fraying. I sent it back to them ($5 or less shipping) with a note that I didn't want a new one, because this was my FAVORITE bag and could they please fix it? And they sewed in a panel and fixed the straps and sent it back to me for free.

I back Jansport 100% - not everyone knows about the warranty though so I feel like it's an underutilized brand.

I have a small backpack similar to this, but it's not exactly the same style. I think I've had it for 10+ years, though. In saying that, I love it! Although it looks like the "half pint" model would hold more than the one I have does, tbh. What physical stores carry these if I wanted to check them out?

I had SO many different Jansports when I was in school as a kid, haha.

I use a Manhattan Portage Messenger bag. I love them. My wife prefers her cotton backpack.

Surplus stores usually always have the half pint and fanny pack versions for Jansport, sometimes luggage stores carry the half pint models, sporting goods stores may, Target possibly.

If you order from Jansport now, the shipping looks to be free and you probably won't save much if anything getting it from a physical store. But ebay is just as good if you're on a budget and you like the designs on there more. Jansport seems to accept it back if there's an issue no matter where you got it :D

I just ordered the half pint in black from the Jansport website. It was on sale with free shipping!

Thanks pindecisive!!!

I don't like to use a backpack. I am all about having my hands free so I use a crossbody bag. Right now I have a Vera Bradley Disney Hipster that I use that is perfect!

I will be carrying a half pint when I go to DLR this summer. Will also be using my larger Jansport as my carryon on the plane. I totally agree about Jansport's warranty. It is the best in the industry. I have been tempted to buy a new backpack but mine is still going strong after about 10 years.

Thanks for the reply! I think I might have to order one of these tonight!

You're very welcome! I hope you love yours! :D

Lol, I'm trying to hold myself back from buying another. I don't think they usually have free shipping :D

I lied. I went ahead and ordered the black one just now, haha! That's a great deal- It was under $19 for the bag including the tax and the shipping was free!

I got the black because my other little Jansport is medium and light blue and it is SO prone to getting dirty. I wish they had a few other darker colors to chose from, but hey, black goes with everything!

pindecisive, you should contact Jansport and ask about getting a commission, lol.

I don't even need a new backpack, and I don't like any of the designs, and I'm still considering buying one. :rotfl:

I am kinda in love with my Minnie Mouse backpack and my D&B backpack
