This is a question for all you experienced Mommies and Daddies!
What are some of the best baby products (strollers, car seats, swings, etc) that you recommend? I'm willing to pay for better quality and durability. Some factors to consider, I am a small person so it's hard for me to lift heavy things. Hubby and I also travel a lot, so portable is better. Also, is there anything that you thought you needed, but ended up being a waste? Thanks in advance!:cloud9:

Britax convertible car seats
Graco infant seat/stroller all-in-one combo
Peg Perego Prima Pappa high chairs

Didn't use the wipes warmer, didn't ever have a changing table

Here are my must haves:
Papasan swing, Graco stroller/seat combo, Maclaren quest stroller, Prince lionheart lulaby bear, and my boppy pillow for BF. I also use the exersaucer all the time now that he is bigger. I did use the wipe warmer but I could have lived without it. Britax is the car seat I use now. I love my highchair it is a chicco polly, also I have the strap on one at my moms and that is excellent as well. Hope this helps you!

My baby really likes her swing. We have the Fisher-Price Ocean one. Not sure if they still sell it, though. I think they now they have the Rainforest one.

DD also likes her bouncy seat. It's also a fisher-price (I really like their products).

Also, we really like our Gymini play mat. It's not a necessity, but dd has used it since she was really little. She started off just staring at the animals. :goodvibes

I second, the Graco infant carseats/strollers. I had an Evenflo one for my first dd, and did not really like it. You might like to go to Babies R Us and play with some of their carseats and strollers. That way you can fold them up and see how heavy they are to lift, etc.

Those Jumperoos are really nice, too. So are the exersaucers. We have the Baby Einsteins. We weren't going to buy both, but we were given an exersaucer, and dd really likes it.

The Britax convertible seats are nice. We just bought one (wish I had had one for my other two kids). They go up to 65 pounds, which is nice. They say that they can start off at 5 pounds, but my dd is just now getting tall enough for it (she's 6 months).

~The Swaddle Me blanket
~'Happiest Baby on the Block book and DVD'
~Dr Browns bottles
~the papsan swing

are some of my favourites and must haves

The miracle blanket - I'd be lost without this!
Happiest Baby on the block dvd
Papasan cradle swing
Graco car seat
Maclaren Quest stroller
Baby sling - I got a ring sling and an ergo - love both
Fisher Price Healthy Booster chair/seat that attaches to any chair
Infant to toddler rocker chair
Forehead temporal artery scanning thermometer - saved my son's life but that's another story
Food mill (the small type that is less that $10) - able to make any meal for our baby from food we are going to eat even at restaurants.
rayshade
Kid Kozy Kushion http://kidkozy.com/ for nursing..so much nicer than a boppy or the my brest friend
Desitin (40% one)
Any book or resource that teaches baby sign language
Dunstan Baby language DVD - this is insanely expensive but really helped me decode my babies cries

Things I love that were definitely splurges and not necessary but nice:
Baby tenda high chair and crib (love being able to sleep in the crib with the baby when I want to - not that we do the crib that much as we are co-sleeping!)
Gymimi play mat
proper nursing wear from motherwear.com
graco car seat swing - real neat invention
I must say I am a sucker when it comes to getting stuff for the kids...the only thing I haven't bought is an exersaucer or a bumbo baby chair!

Just also wanted to post this about baby walkers and why not to get one:

I also skipped the wipes warmer! We travel (by car) to see my parents alot so we love our Graco pack-n-play, toddler size aero-bed. Loved my Baby Bjorn carrier /sling. I recently purchased a CARES harness for my DD and for the airplane - it saves having to lug the car seat through the airport and it folds up into a little pouch about 4x6 and can be tossed in your carryon. I also have the Safety 1st portable 'high chair' that you can sit on the floor or strap to a chair at the table. The seat tray stores underneath and is very compact. Also have the Britax car seat and love it. I also highly recommend the Halo Sleep Sak for infants. It keeps them warm at night without bulky blankets and late night diaper changes are easy!

Forgot to mention

the boppy pillow
the bouncy seat
the Halo sleep sack
the exersaucer

but I agree with all the PP who mentioned them! :thumbsup2

Graco infant seat, or Britax car seat, Maclaren strollers-good to 55 lbs (we have a Quest), Angel Care baby monitor (has a sensor that sounds an alarm when baby stops breathing), Pampers diapers/wipes, lots of pacifiers (if using them) with retainers (I like Mam, and Nuby), when they get older, there are pacifiers that close when dropped (you will be opening them all the time if theyre too young to do it themselves), convertible crib and furniture that can be used through their lives, portable swing (ie Fisher Price), Halo sleepsack, pack and play with extra sheets (I like the quilted ones), Leap Frog toys (love them), Baby Einstein crib thingy thats a turtle-lights up, fish swim around and it plays music (dd loved it and still does at 2 yrs), boppy for nursing, Avent products (pump and bottles), Hotsling or something similar (I hated my Bjorn-hurt my back. My babies prefered the Hotsling), Desitin (though I switched often when one wouldnt work), Baby Eistein under sea playmat, doorway jumper, one of those cheap battery powered push on/off lights for night time diaper changes as they dont put out a lot of light, but enough to get the job done. A friends son who is 5 also has one next to his bed which he turns on when scared at night, a nightlight, rectal thermo (the others arent accurate for infants, but are handy to have as a tester before having to put your baby through the agony!), vaseline, Aveeno for babies (lotion), Johnson & Johnson stuff, bathtub for the sink (love the one I had-blue with a sling support in it), toys/mirror for the car (dd liked Fisher Prices aquarium mirror with a remote for me. It lights up and plays music), a mirror that attaches to your rearview mirror so you can see your child, sunshade for the car window, JJ Cole car seat/stroller bunting (living in SC the lightweight version was fine for us-beat having to layer your baby with clothing), gate for stairs when they start moving, bumpers for around furniture (I also used stick on foam pipe insulators or furniture edges, and cut up a swim noodle to stick over drawer knobs, cabinet locks are a must too (I like the magnetic ones as the kids can eventually open the push tab ones), furniture tie downs, fire alarm in bedrooms (they make one now where you can record yourself telling them to get out which has been shown to wake the kids more often than the standard ones), and lots more safety stuff (its amazing of what all is available these days compared to when I was little)!

Skip the wipe warmer- they dry out the wipes and can be a fire hazzard. Also the Swaddle me (a blanket works just as well if not better. My dd actually got tangled up in her Swaddle me and it was over her head. Luckily I was a light sleeper and heard her crying!

I would not have survived without my Fisher Price Cradle Swing!!!! For both my kids that swing just swung and swung and swung for hours and hours and horus at a time, even beside our bed at night.
Of course a cozy vibrating bouncy seat is another must.
This book SAVED MY LIFE : "The Happiest Baby in the Block" by Harvey Karp. It is a MUST read!!!!!!!!
Large swaddling blankets. I made my own from fabric because the store bought ones are too small for swaddling.
My Heart To Heart Baby sling and my Kangaroo Korner pouch. I carried both my kids a ton ton ton.
A good electric breast pump. MUST HAVE!!!! The Pump in Style is a good one.
For strollers, I swear by Peg Peregos or Maclarens. I have had/do have many still. I would get a nice PP and a nice Mac umbrella stroller if money is no object.
A VIDEO monitor!!! Another must in my books. You can hear the baby but you can also pop on the monitor when they get a bit older and are in their own room and see what the heck they are doing without getting out of bed at night ;) It's also great for when you switch them out of the crib and they are mobile, so you can see what's going on.

My Favorites:
-Graco snugride carseat (we were in an accident with one, DS was smiling at the firemen when they got there)
-fisher price swing that can be adjusted to swing two ways (ours is ducks, but is like the aquarium one)
-boppy pillow (good for breastfeeding and just to prop baby up)
-fisher price step and play piano (like an exersaucer, but they can actually walk a few steps)
-fisher price toys that can all be linked together (can't think of what they are called)
-bouncy seat that vibrates
-jogging stroller (I like to walk on trails, and a reg. stroller just doesn't cut it)

I don't have or didn't need:
-a wipe warmer
-anything to sterilize stuff (a pot of boing water works just fine)

You got some great responses..a sling or pouch for when the baby is newborn is awesome..i had a microfleece pouch(for newborn), a Peanut Shell from Goo-ga.com (or they sell them at some Nordstroms now). Then when the baby gets bigger a Mei Tei carrier (babyhawk.com) really comes in handy. Check out Thebabywearer.com.
AS far as a wipes warmer..never used one with 3 kids
Diapers..can't help you there i cloth diaper..lol use Fuzzibuns (but they are awesome!! ;)
Clothes for a newborn...comfy one piece sleep/play outfits. Easier for you and i would think more comfy for them..
For sleep ,get the nightgowns that have the elastic at the bottom..they are THE BEST especially for middle of the night changings.

Dr. Brown bottles
Fisher Price Natural Wonders Papasan Swing
Britax Marathon Carseat
Graco Stroller System
Baby Einstein Activity seat
baby mirror for car (parents love seeing him!)
Mirror for crib (baby loved looking at himself!)
Fisher Price rainforest highchair (DS loves to sit in here)
Medula Microwave sterilizing bags (even took these to WDW)
Buy two pack & play sheets and changing pad covers
Two large bottle dishwasher baskets (love these)

Thank you for all of the great suggestions! I'm compiling a list, then I'll go to Babies R US to investigate!
One More Question.....Does anyone know of a baby crib set company that also makes matching comforter/sheet sets for a full sized bed? I know pottery barn kids does, but I want more choices. We are keeping a full sized bed in the room that will be the nursery and I want everything to coordinate.

Absolutely a sling or carrier of some kind. Rediscovering that you can have 2 hands free after having a baby is wonderful.

Pick up a copy of Baby Bargains Secrets by Alan and Denise Fields. It goes over all the current gear and helps you figure out what is best for YOU. Just because I loved my huge Peg stroller, doesn't mean it is best for everyone YKWIM?

They also have a website w/ message boards. Those moms there really know their stuff and can not only tell you about their positive/negative experiences w/ gear, but also where to get the big stuff for the best price online.

You might check Land's End to see if they have coordinating bedding for crib and full size. Their crib sheets are wonderful - very soft with elastic all the way around that survives many, many washings! The Pottery Barn sheets are great too!

My must-have product for both children was the Swaddle Me blanket when they were newborns.

However, I also could not have lived without a series of my favorite shows TiVo'ed so I could watch them during those late night feedings. A few months before both babies were born, I started filling up the DVR with my favorite shows. They were a life saver because they kept me awake and made being up at 3 a.m. with the baby not seem so lonely. A good friend of mine did something similar by renting the season series of Friends on DVD for those late night feedings. :)

A good sling. I love the Kangaroo Korner adjustable fleece pouch and BabyHawk, but there are so many awesome carriers out there. If you find a sling you love, it will just make life so much easier. It's so much nicer to carry baby that way instead of in the 'baby bucket' ;)
And you won't find these slings at Babies R Us, they're all through online shops.

Boppy. This made breastfeeding much more comfortable for me.

Oh, and I don't usually buy into all the baby gadget 'must-haves' but my little ones did enjoy the Fisher Price Jumparoo (handy when you want to take a shower or go to the bathroom! ;) )

Other than that.. not too much. We didn't use a changing table. Didn't use a crib (coslept). Didn't use a stroller... Easier to list the things we actually did use! :)
