Best areas to live not in housing?

Hello all! Just wondering - where would the best areas to live be if not living in the provided housing? My husband and I want to do the CP soooo much (we have 2 small dogs) and we would be moving to Florida from North Carolina. What would be the best cost efficient not scary areas to look to live in? Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!! We know that finances would be tight because we have seen the pay scale... But hopefully between savings and (fingers crossed) our house here gets rented, we would be fine! Thanks for reading, thanks for the help!!
