my husband and i are planning another trip to disney next year. we are looking at staying at Port ORleans. Any advice what buildings to stay in? Is there only 1 bus stop for the resort? we have stayed at CBR and POPCENT.and wanted to try somewhere new. I know certain areas have been renovated has the whole resort been? :earsboy:

which moderate resort suits young children (ages 4and 5 year old boys) the best. i was thinking the CBR but read many reviews that POR is the best one. AHHHHH im flip flopping my mind every day.

Here is a map of POR:

I believe there are 4 bus stops. We've always stayed in the Magnolia Terrace section, but we're thinking of trying the bayou this time :goodvibes

We love love love POR, but then again we haven't stayed anywhere else. Then again we have been so happy there, why stay anywhere else. We were just there Spring Break and we stay in the Alligator Bayou section because we have 5 people and we love it. We were in Bldg 16 and it was pretty close to everything. There was a quiet pool right outside our bldg and it was a quick walk to the bus depot and the main building where they have the food court, lounge (with Bob Jacksons all ages show...fun fun fun), boatwrights restaurant (LOVE the blueprint omlette for breakfast...great food). It's also a quick 10 minute walk or boat ride to POFQ's pool. I'm not sure about POFQ's bus service, but POR has 4 stops (north south east and west).

We just returned from Disney and had a great time despite being dissatisfied with POR. We were in the Parterre Building which was very convenient. Unfortunately, we received none of the Disney Magic we are used to at Disney Resorts. Nothing special waiting for the kids when we got back from the parks, the kids pool was closed all day one day and several maintainance issues. I would have hated to see this Resort before it was remodeled. We would choose CBR or All Stars over POR. Sorry for the negative email, but I think Disney has some problems in this Resort.

It was the French Quarter section that was recently renovated. We have stayed in the Riverside section (once in Alligator Bayou, once in the mansions) and really enjoyed it both times. Next time we are going to ASMo just to do something different (and because of the season rooms are more expensive), but I would love to stay at POR again. Next time we do I plan to stay at POFQ because we have not stayed there before, and the pool to us seemed to be something DS would enjoy more than at POR

There are several bus stops in both sections of Port Orleans. We never had a real long walk to the bus stop either place we stayed at POR.

It must be luck of the draw with surprises for the kids from Mousekeeping. Every night we came back except one (must have been our regular Mousekeeper's night off) we came back to the room to creative towels and toy displays. Our first stay at POR, that never happened, but we hadn't ever stayed at Disney and we had never researched enough to find out that it sometimes happens. I did like POFQ's pool better than POR's but that would probably mean we'd either just walk down there or take a boat ride.

I believe Riverside has now been fully renovated as well. They did the Mansions first, and it's my understanding that they have just completed (or only have a few buildings left) of the Alligator Bayou section.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in April 2004. Although we didn't get towel animals and what not from Mousekeeping, the staff rearranged my kids' stuffed animals in the windowsill. The room was always clean.

We stayed at Acadian mansion and it was a short walk to the bus stop. It was quiet and well landscaped. Since you stayed at CBR and Pop, I'd be inclined to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. It's more compact than CBR, Pop and POR. The boat ride to Downtown Disney stops at both POR and POFQ.

We stayed in Port Orleans way back when it used to be Dixie Landings and we recieved the towel animals every night. This was before we started going on cruises and thought is was soooo cool. Now that I'm a little older we are going back because I've heard that although Port Orleans is "Disney" its kinda for an older crowd. I saw lots of things for the kids to do but just from the new pictures, it looks a little more "grown up" than the other resorts. Also, last year we stayed at the Swan and enjoyed the wonderful "Heavenly" beds. I would recommend this for adults only as well. Very posh on the inside. Anywho, I can't wait to go back to Port Orleans. We are going to stay in the French Quarter side, and we read something about a pool with a bar in it. I would figure this to be a more adult atmosphere as well. Can't wait to go!
