We are thinking of staying at OKW. We'd like to request a room location...any opinions out there?? :earsboy:

Also, does anyone know the bus route? Where does it stop first, second, and so on while it is in OKW?

Thanks.

I stayed in a grande villa in Bldg. 48 last summer, and it was a wonderful location! I have also been in Bldg. 23 and 29, and 64, and all were nice. I did not really like Bldg. 36, and I HATED Bldg. 11-14. I thought I would love it, but it's noisy, and way too much traffic. It's really bad on a hot day--if you leave your villa, you won't find a parking space when you return, because everyone who goes to the main pool will park by your villa.

If I remember correctly, HH is the last stop before it leaves the resort. I think it enters OKW and drops off by 23-26 first, 30's are second, and the one by 48 is third. I don't know anything about any stops after that. :)

To the best of my memory during our Aug '05 trip---
Busses going into OKW were:
Millers Rd
Peninsular Rd
Old Turtle Pond
Southpoint
HH

For quiet:
I'd say bldgs 45 or 46 in Southpoint area. We also liked 43 in Old Turtle Pond area. Even though we liked bldg 62 for it's convenience to the main pool and HH, it was a bit more noisey.

Almost got it :)

The buses route inside the property is (this is for ALL except Downtown Disney):
Peninsular Road - by building 27 (service for Bldgs 23-29)
South Point Road between buildings 52 & 53 (service for bldgs 45-55)
Old Turtle Pond Road - in front of building 33 (service for bldgs 30-44)
Millers Road - across road from building 19 (service for bldgs 17-22)
Hospitality House (Resort Check-In) (service for bldgs 11-16 and 62, 63, 64)

They also have an internal bus (it is actually the Downtown Disney bus) it's route is:
Hospitality House (Resort Check-In) (service for bldgs 11-16 and 62, 63, 64)
Millers Road - across road from building 19 (service for bldgs 17-22)
Peninsular Road- by building 27 (service for Bldgs 23-29)
South Point Road between buildings 52 & 53 (service for bldgs 45-55)
Old Turtle Pond Road - in front of building 33 (service for bldgs 30-44)
Hospitality House (Resort Check-In) (service for bldgs 11-16 and 62, 63, 64)
That way it stops at the HH first and last so you can go from HH to your bldg with ease. Or you could walk from the HH across the bridge to the Peninsular stop which is the first on any route and take any bus to your stop. Same when trying to go from your room to the HH, you can take any bus up there, they all stop there before they leave the property.

As far as a quite room location, my favorite bldg is 35, it is really nice there, the bldg is a U shape so it takes the rooms off the parking area into a little courtyard so you don't have the parking lot noise. It is right across the street from the bus stop for Turtle Pond (but far enough away you don't hear the buses), the pool is right around the corner and it overlooks a lake and the golf course. (I also like 18 for the same reason, U shaped, around the corner from the Miller road bus stop and pool, not to far to HH if you want to walk.) I would suggest not getting your hopes set on a specific area as OKW does not pre-assign requests like that, they are on a first come first serve basis at check in, it doesn't hurt to have the request in, just be prepared for anything :)

I appreciate all of your input. We have DS 14 and DS 12. We like to break in the middle of the day, and some of us go to the pool while others rest in the room.

I guess what we are looking for is a studio close enough to a bus stop and the main pool (or any pool) while not being too noisy. In the past, we have stayed at POFQ and VWL. Both are compact resorts; not too far to the bus stop or the pools.

The noise, unless it lasts way into the night, really wouldn't bother us too much, though, because our trip is relatively short this time, and we will be off at the parks the majority of the time.

Oh, and I do realize that Disney will not guarantee a request...just thought I'd give it a shot.

We were in building 34 in Dec and it was very quiet, except we were in a studio and on morning the family on the other side of the lock off was really noisy. But minimal outside noise.

Also we found the bus route very inconsistent on our trip. It took 2 days to figure out the route and then on other trips it was reversed.

There are 4 pools at OKW, while some bldgs are closer than others, no bldg is a long, long walk from a pool. Oue favorite area if Old Turtle Pond Rd, but there really aren;t any "bad" areas of OKW. If you want to be cloe to Hospitality House (Restaurant, main pool, boat to DtD) then list "Near to Hospitality House" on your ressie as a request. Of course, it isn't guaranteed, but they will do their best.

I am a DVC member and requested CLOSE TO HH for my Nov. trip to OKW...got a villa as far as I could possibly have been from HH even tho I checked in at 9 a.m. and told CM I did not mind waiting til late in the day to get in our villa if I could get a different location. But, alas, she saw no hope of getting anything any closer than Southpoint area. Bottom line is that we LOVED our location (building 49) !!! I have even requested THAT area for my March trip. (so do you think we'll get CLOSE TO HH???? :rotfl2: ) The control freak in me is learning to relax a little!

We were just in building 54 in South Point, very nice. No traffic, short walk to bus stop, and pool area was close also.
