Best Apps to use before trip and in parks?

I apologize if this has already been addressed before, but what apps (android and iPhone) do people use in the parks to help manage their time?

What apps do you use before hand?

What non-Disney apps do you use during your stay at Disney?

I have the Lines app from TouringPlans. A paid subscription to Touringplans.com is required. They have real-time estimated wait times for rides that I find generally more accurate than the ones posted by Disney. Plus, there are many useful planning tools at touringplans.com.

I'm thinking about getting the Character Locator app from Kennythepirate.com. I haven't used it, but many have recommended it. It's great for all things character related, so they say.

Of course, there's always the My Disney Experience app (official Disney app) for managing fast passes and ADRs.

While you'd use these somewhat before, mostly they are used during a visit.

We just used the MDE - the official Disney app - the entire time Super helpful in checking wait times and adding/modifying FPs.

MDE is perfect and also the times were right on if not shorter than what was on the app by the time we got there, never had a problem with them being longer than posted.

MDE and Weather app are the only two I use.

Well and on my iPhone I go on safari for all showtime info. If you google a park name followed by "showtime", so like "Magic Kingdom showtimes", it'll let you click a touringplans.com link and see full showtimes for an entire day on one page without having to have a paid membership. It comes in super handy when we want to know say what time fireworks are, or what time the next Indiana Jones show is, etc

But that's kind of the point. MDE times are often inflated. The Lines app tries to get it more precisely, which helps you better plan your day-of moves. It's certainly not necessary, but it's another tool in the belt.

Thanks for these suggestions!! We definitely want to find characters, so the character locator app sounds useful!

And good to know about the show times trick.
