Best and worst airlines to europe

Love the Disney Games :thumbsup2 but OUCH on the checked bag fee! I wonder if that includes previously purchased fares, when we were told that it is included. I am going to start looking it up now.

The fee for the 2nd checked bag applies for bookings made on or after March 1, 2011. So if you're already booked, you should be fine and don't have to pay anything. Here's a link to Swiss' baggage guide: http://www.swiss.com/WEB/EN/SERVICES/BAGGAGE/Pages/free_checked_baggage.aspx

By the way, the Disney games are available on their A340-300 aircraft. Not sure if they're also on their A330-300's, since these aircrafts are very new to their fleet and therefore also have a newer entertainment system. The flights from JFK and Montreal are operated by the A330's, while LAX and SFO get the A340's. The other destinations are served with a mix between these two aircraft types.

Thanks for the update! I love 'your' airline! Too bad my layovers are very short (about 1.5 hours) so I won't have time to explore your cities. Maybe next time I will plan for longer layovers (:wizard: on there being a next time :goodvibes)

i second (or third) what was said about Lufthansa, Air Canada and Swiss...

all good airlines..

as for bad - too numerous to list...

however, if cost is an issue for you, i suggest you find yourself the cheapest way to get to barcelona....
i mean really....it's 7 or 8 hours....what does it matter, as long as they're safe...

Lufthansa is lovely - and they don't keep planes in operation for 20+ years like the american companies do.

Delta/Air France, USAir & American were definitely a class below, but will in all likelihood be cheaper.

I've found too that your departure city makes a difference when you travel internationally - ie... flights from Charlotte or Pittsburgh with USAir tend to be less full than New York or D.C., and therefore more comfortable with better service.

we have crossed the atlantic (to the Uk) with several different airlines.
All pretty much of a muchness. Virgins customer care is pretty average, but consistant. ditto Continenetal...who they code share with...we personally had a nightmare with United last year....delayed flights...missed connections...piss poor customer care...lost luggage....a very harsh lesson for us in not tryng to save a few ££ by using indirect flight:scared1:
But this can happen to anyone i suppose.
If you opt for a major into a big city, then a 'budget' to Barcalona...do yourself a big favour and avoid Ryanair like the plague. They treat their customers with borderline contempt:headache: The flight may be very cheap...but by the time you have paid to use the loo...bought a lifejacket etc etc:rotfl2::rotfl2:..its just not worth it. And beware the flights into Barcelona that are actually into Reus...its a couple of hours up the road;)
