Just wondering if anyone had any tips on which airline and time of year is best to head to Hawaii. We need flight only as we would like to stay at the new DVC resort.
Any tips appreciated!

The weather in Hawaii is nice at any time of the year. Our winter is their rainy season, but whether or not it rains in one particular area depends which side of the island you are on. The area where Aulani is being built should be nice weather year round.

You will find the lowest airfares in the fall - September through November.

I used to fly frequently through Honolulu when I lived in MN. I haven't been back since I moved back to T.O. *Sigh* I always used Delta, and liked them very much. I like their Airbus 330's. Spacious, bright, with seat back entertainment systems. They fly from ATL and MSP using those planes. They used to have direct flights from DTW using those as well, but the last time I looked, I couldn't find them.

United has direct fights from O'Hare that have good times. Whichever airline you use, look for the shortest flight times. You can get to HNL in a little over 10 hours. Some airlines take almost 20 hours. Yucch.

We have only flown to Hawaii once, a while back. Direct flight from To. to Honolulu, on Air Canada. It was a package deal with two weeks hotel and a one week car rental. I remember thinking that the price was about what we would have paid for a (non DCL) one week cruise for the two of us.

May I suggest that you try to put the adults in your party in aisle seats, across from each other? Even a direct flight is long enough that you start feeling cramps in your legs if you aren't able to stretch.

I also remember saying to DH that if we were flying to Hawaii again, I would look for airports on the west coast so that we could break up the flying time and stay in Vancouver one night. It might not be the cheapest way to go, but we would be more comfortable and the time change would be easier to take.

Just another thing--you should stay in Hawaii for at least 10 days. The trip length and time change is large enough that you can expect to be quite tired and on the wrong schedule for at least a day to a day and a half.

We have been to Hawaii twice and both times went BUF-LAX-OGG (Maui) with an aiport hotel stay in the middle. We were able to get cheap flights to LA and then there was a lot more choice from LAX to Hawaii. Also the 2nd leg was only about 4.5 hours. So we arrived in Maui early in the morning Hawaii time well rested and not insanely jet lagged. We just did priceline for LAX and probably paid $50.

We're going to Aulani in 2012 and will probably do DL for 2 or 3 days on the way there.

Also we were there in June and Oct and weather was amazing both times.
