Best advice from DIS boards

-Over-the-door shoe rack
-ADR at Ohana during Wishes
-Character Connection in Epcot (since it's not outside, I may have walked right by had I not been forewarned!!)
-Off-Kilter
Hmm, I don't know about two of these! What's the purpose of the over-the-door shoe rack, and what happens at Ohana during Wishes -- can you see the fireworks from there?

Sooooo many good tips here...I think the yummiest was defintely the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. Dh, Dd and I attempted it in January and barely made a dent.

Everything to do about ADR's and TS.

The cute terms we use to abbreviate everything.

The cool buttons at Disney you can get for free.

Riding in front of the monorail.

Buy a poncho before riding Kali.

FINALLY DOING CHARACTER MEALS!!!!

The rack is to put all of your personal items in at the hotel. No more digging around in suitcases for your toothpaste or sunscreen. Saves a lot of search time in the morning so we can get to the parks faster!!

During Wishes, Ohana turns the lights down and pipes in the Wishes track over the audio system. Nothing better than enjoying Wishes, your family, and that yummy dessert all at the same time! :)

The best advice (and the least taken) I have ever read here is, Slow Down and let the Magic catch up with you.

I've been here for many (many!) years and that is still the best advice I've ever read. It's hard to do, but when you DO slow down, the Magic DOES find you.

That, and drink lots of water. ;)

Learn to love baby swap and FastPass . . . definitely take advantage of both, in conjunction if possible.

Baby swap will give you a fast pass for you and 3 riders. Dh would FP one attraction, I would FP another and we would Swap. We made the most of our days at Disney.

Also . . . asking to ride up front on the monorail is worth the very short wait!

1. To place a bandana on my stroller.
2. Connections vouchers (they saved my family some money back in the day!)
3. to make ADRs
4. MNSSHP and MVMCP
5. discounts can be found!

There are sooo many things-Tour Guide Mike has to be on the top of the list. His
advice is right on & he knows what he's talking about. We followed his advice
last April & it worked like a charm.

The shoe holder is another thing we used last year & LOVED IT!!!!! I will never leave home without it!!!

Splitting clothes into different suitcases so everyone has some clothes in different cases so if one case gets lost you still have clothes to wear. Rolling the
clothes, using ziplock bags....so many things. I could go on & on & on!!! :dance3:

I read on here years ago to do the parks in a counter-clockwise rotation - head to the right when entering. I read that people naturally tend to enter a park & head left (clockwise) - so it's less crowded to head in the opposite direction. I don't know if this is true or not, but we always go in & head right - and it seems to be working so far!

That works with the entrance lines too. We always go to the lines on the left side and get in quicker.

The best advice I got on the DIS was all the help I got deciding to buy DVC. I would also agree with the advice about slowing down. We did it on our last visit and it made the trip so much better!

This is definitely a great trip for anytime you travel! I never travel without one now either. It saves SO much searching for this or that time!

by far....the codes, discounts and other promos. they are not advertised well on TV, i don't read newspapers. if it weren't for my skimming these boards i would have never known it was possible to visit WDW at a discount.

not to mention how to play the game with air travel rates and car rental discounts.

without a doubt, these boards have saved me thousands of dollars over the past 5 years.

thanks dis - you rule.

Right before our trip in September, we read a post about how great Turtle Talk with Crush was. I had heard about it but thought it was just for kids, but after reading about it, I was really looking forward to it. What's funny is that I'm recording us driving through the Disney World entrance and you can hear me talking about how I read about Crush on the Disboards. We ended up seeing it 3 times and now it's one of my favorite attratctions. :cool1:

Thanks, Red! I can't believe I've been in the dark about the shoe rack for so long!

I wish I had something to add that I've learned on the DIS other than what's already been mentioned, but reading over all the responses makes me realize just how much I've learned here! Thanks, everybody! :thumbsup2

That you should tip Mousekeeping, it never even occured to me! The characters you can meet by the train station in Mickey's Toon Town fair.dole Whips and the whispering canyon cafe.

I so agree. It is easy to get caught up in the plan and try to hit everything in one trip.

I also would not have know about ADR's and Tinks Treasures. Watching our DGD "Find" Tink in the drawer is one of our favorite magical moments.

BODYGLIDE ... it's this stuff you put on feet to avoid chafing ... you can also use it anywhere there is chafing but I just needed on feet. Runners use it. I had never heard of it before and it was GREAT. My feet felt good all day. It must moisturize too cause they were not hot and dry at all. I use it now when we go to the nearby amusement park too!!

There are so many other tips and tricks I learned on the DIS boards plus just the fun of reading and dreaming, etc... "REAL PEOPLE" (ha ha - I mean non-DISers) get tired of hearing about WDW but not on these boards!!! I can get my fix anytime I want! :thumbsup2

(Well, have to work so not ANYTIME I want - but that is just a sad fact of life!)
