We are going to Disney in Dec and me & hubby are sneaking away one night for a dinner out (my niece is babysitting). I booked Captain Jack's but now I am not sure. I already have Liberty Tree, Mama Melrose, OHana, & LeCellar booked with the family.

Thanks

Have never eaten there - but can certainly recommend CG at the CR. Would be lovely for 2 - especially if you time it with the fireworks at MK.

For our money, its Portobello Yacht Club. Possibly the best Italian food on WDW property.

Are you on the dining plan?

If you are, your best options may be Raglan Road or Wolfgang Puck Cafe.

A number of the DTD restaurants do not take the dining plan.

Is very good you might want to give it a try.We have had several good meals and a few drinks at HOB.Love the VooDoo Shrimp and DW really likes the Shrimp Po-Boy they serve.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

Wolfgang Puck's upstairs room is great for grownups. And kids, actually. But it's swankier and has a pricier menu than the cafe downstairs. Maybe a little dressier, too -- nice slacks and a collared shirt will do -- but it's very good. :thumbsup2

These restaurants don't take the dining plan:

Portobello Yacht Club
Fulton's
Rainforest Cafe
Bongos
Wolfgang Puck's Dining Room (upstairs; not the cafe - they take it)
House of Blues

That will narrow your choices down a bit if you intend to pay with dining plan credits.

We had lovely meals at Raglan Road and House of Blues last month. If you want to see some pictures there are some on my dinin review, link in my signature!

I think Ragland Road and Wolfgang Puck cafe are both quite a bit better than Captain Jacks. I don't know what you're looking for but I wouldn't consider any of those three particularly romantic. Ragland Road is very fun -- but extremely noisy when the band & dancer are there. (Might not be earlier in the day/evening.)

If you're dining at Downtown Disney simply to avoid having to eat somewhere that requires park admission you might consider some of the restaurants at the resort hotels. There are a variety of great choices. My favorites are Kona Cafe in the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Cafe at GF, there are lots more that sound wonderful too. You could also consider the signature dining restaurants which sound fantastic but they do take 2 credits on the dining plan.

Raglan Road is my favorite restaurant on property. They have entertainment every night except Sundays so if you make your ADR a little later, you will enjoy this too. They are known for their seafood.

We also tried HOB when we were there last week and loved it. The waiter warned us that the portions were big so we didn't have appetizers. I had the Jambalaya and it was great and my DH and DS had the ribs...they said they were great as well. Looked good too; fall off the bone.

We have hopper tickets so it does not matter. I was just thinking down town because I do not know if we will go there with the children
