Is there such a thing as the "best" two bedroom at VWL? We have 7 nights reserved in a dedicated two bedroom. Any room suggestions?

I don't have any room suggestions, but I know that VWL has only a few dedicated 2 br's.....so I don't know how much choice you will get anyway.

most are woodview - there are a few, very few rooms that have a view of the quiet pool and the lake - that all the choices. the pool view go fast so no guaranteed on that at all!

make sure to get near the elevators - so you don't have to walk as far. (the quiet pool is almost next to the elevators)-

this is a beautiful resort - so you will love it!

the best two bedroom at VWL is any one I'm in.... :) Well...best for ME anyway! :)

We were up in 5553 last month and it was great. Woods view, decicated 2 br. It was far from the elevators, but not so dreadfully so that I hated the walk. It's no farther than the Winnie the Pooh ride is from Peter Pan.

It seemed to me that the entire 5th floor was dedicated two bedrooms. There was only one "door" per section, whereas on the 4th floor there were two doors almost side by side (signifying a door to the one bedroom part and a door to the lock off studio part) I have no idea about any other floors as we didn't go snooping.

BTW, if the person is here who stayed on the 5th floor of VWL during the 3rd week in December who cooked the most HEAVENLY smelling dinner (something Italian and garlic-y) please can I have the recipe?? We and our guests stood in the hall and breathed deeply for a few minutes. It was awesome! (they stayed somewhere in the 5540 range to to 5555 range)

Just going by the recollection of what my guide and also the on-site sales personnel told me, but I could have sworn they said that VWL only has "a couple" of dedicated 2 bedroom units.

In any event, if you have preferences, you might want to let MS know ASAP. It might be that your preferences would be better accommodated by a lock-off 2BR.

Is DVC-VWL out there? He would know about the dedicated 2 bedrooms, he is the room assigner at VWL. Maybe you should do a seperate post directly to him, I am curious about how many dedicated 2 bedrms each of the resorts have and how hard are they to get.

Instead of editing my last post that said "I think the entire 5th floor is dedicated 2 BR" I'll correct myself here.....

I'm not sure about the rooms that are right near the elevators (the ones that *would* overlook the VWL lobby *if* you could see down from that floor). The long hallway though seems to be all 2 BR.

Hopefully the room assigner will post so we can find out a real number.

we just returned from a 10 day trip to the vwl and let me say we had a fabulous room. we were originally assigned to a 4 th floor 2 bedroom all the way down the hall which overlooked the laundry and was on top of an access road. we were so disappointed!!! it took away half of the charm and ambiance of the resort (especially if you are staying that long). we inquired about a change and had to wait a few days , but we were eventually reassigned to the third floor in a corner room that overlooked the pool and the lake and had an entirely different layout than the first 2 bedroom we had. it was incredible and i am forever grateful to natalia and carla at the front desk for their kindness and assistance. (they said by the way that it was a pleasure to help someone who asked nicely and was kind..makes me think that some guests may need a little bit of manners). i am in love with this resort ....i just cant believe the point total for one rooms view and placement can be the same as another. happy new year!!!!

We did 7 nights in a dedicated two bedroom last month. Our villa was *wonderful* -- we were on the 4th floor in the end unit, so our 2nd bedroom had a neat sloped ceiling (dmil & her friend couldn't believe how huge their room was -- dmil kept raving about the difference between VWL and the ASMu, where we'd all stayed in '98 -- DUH! LOL), with a wonderful view of the quiet pool and even some of the lake! We were able to watch a good deal of the Water Pageant each night from our balcony. Room number (sssh!) was 4507.

To jodyluvsdisney..... what was the # of your room on the third floor? Were you able to see the EWP from your balcony? Was it a lockoff or dedicated. We will be there in 10 days and I would like to request a room with a view of the lake. Any other helpful hints would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Cherie

The Villas at Wilderness Lodge

The Breakdown as of 7-2001 was:

Dedicated two bedroom............................................44
Two Bedroom Lockoff Possible but Not Dedicated.....39
Includes One Bedroom and a Studio
One Bedroom.............................................................26
Studio........................................................................15

Total Units................................................................124

The current Member Guidebook says there are 136 units, so that only leaves 12 units not detailed above.

ralphd:) :) :)

ralphd....thanks for the detail. I'm going to print out that piece of information. Definitely a lot different break out of rooms than my guide and the on-site sales person told me.

1/3 of the accommodations are dedicated 2 br's? Wow...that seems high. Why wouldn't they make more lock-offs with a 1br and studio....seems like that would provide more reservation flexibility for both DVD and members? Just a thought.

Hi everyone,

My family and I will be staying in a 2 br at WLV from Jan 19-26th. My mother-in-law has rheumatoid arthritis and I have been doing my best to make things as easy as possible for her while on this trip which as you know can be quite tiring - ECV's in the park and such. I didn't realize that some of the units were so far from the elevator. Given how much walking we will be doing anyway, I know it would be better for her to be close to the elevator. My reservation states that we will be in a dedicated 2 br. Do you think I should contact DVC and see if they can put us near the elevator? What floor would that be then?

Thanks
Trace

I had posted a reply to this, but it seems with the board difficulties things have been lost.

There are about 40 "dedicated" 2 bedrooms and they are on ALL floors except the ground floor (only lock-offs on ground floor for a 2 bedroom)... The "dedicated" 2 bedrooms all have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, the only way you will get a queen and sleeper sofa will be if you were to book a lock-off (that was another question asked on another post)...
