I'm seeking advice from seasoned WDW vets. My family is looking to visit in March for 3 park days. We will be visiting Florida for a separate reason, so will only have 3 full park days available. We have a 5 year old and a 1 year old, so we will need to leave the parks in the afternoon for a midday rest and a good pool would be great for the oldest. Before anyone says it - our 1 year old does not sleep well in the stroller so staying in the parks all afternoon is not an option. We will get to the parks for rope drop and early entry each day. We are DLR vets, so used to being able to walk everywhere.
Given the ages of our kids and our personal interests, we want to do 2 days at Magic Kingdom and 1 day at Epcot. We would preferably stay at a MK resort to be within walking distance, monorail, or boat to MK, but we also really want at least a 1 bedroom hotel option to put the crib in a different room for naps and early bedtime. The prices at Bay Lake Tower for DVC point rentals are in excess of $900 per night for a 1BR - probably too rich for our blood. The Garden Wing standard view is around $600, which is more reasonable (still expensive), but I don't see any kind of separate area where we could place the crib.
Other options include a family suite at Art of Animation, but it will be more challenging to get to MK and place us in reliance on buses (we'd prefer to avoid buses if possible given going to/from MK 2 times for 2 days). We could also look at Old Key West 1 BR or All Star Music family suites. We will have a car and car seats due to other travel before/after in Florida.
What are some of your recommendations to get us easiest access to Magic Kingdom, while also getting a 1BR/suite or a regular hotel room that maybe has some space where a crib could be separated from a sitting area during naptime?
