Which DVC property is best for sleeping 5?
Also, which is easiest to navigate around to different parks and activities?
This is for my college age kid and friends
Thanks

It really depends on bed sharing. A 1 bed that sleeps 5 natively will have a king bed, a queen sleeper of some kind and a single. So you would need people sharing the king and queen.

How friendly are you?

Bedrooms with some variant of this arrangement can be found at AKV, BLT, RIV, SSR, OKW and VGF.

AKV and BLT have an extra bathroom.

AkV Kidani and BLT have extra bath and the pullout sleeper chair. OKW, VGF and now SSR have the sleeper chair or flip down bed for the 5th. I would prob do BLT. Or maybe consider a treehouse villa at SSR. SIL's college kids just stayed in one [also 5 of rhem) and loved it.

SSR doesn't have the sleeper chair.

That flip down is a child size bed, 29" x 67"
My 5'9" 20 something DDs sleep on the flip downs and they love them. A 1BR at SSR congress park might be nice for walking in/out of DS for food/drinks/shopping. If one of them can sleep on the small-ish flip down. But I also like your suggestion of 2 Poly studios. That was one place DD slept on the flip down. And we had it booked again for my 2 DDs and their friend for May and it got COVID cancelled. But they requested Poly.

College kids aren't used to space and should be able to make this work in any 1BR made for 5 (not BCV/BW/WL). Someone could bring an air mattress if the queen sleeper is too friendly. I wouldn't bother to upgrade to two studios, the 1BR is fun!

I think BLT would be great because of the magical balconies and the extra bath.

I guess I might change my answer if these are all huge guys on the college football team.

The single murphy in RIV is the same as a twin size, and the murphy in the LR is a queen.

FWIW, the murphy beds in the RIV 1 br have handy outlets for phones and ipads right next to the beds.

But BLT and Kidani have 2 full baths with 2 toilets in the 1br.

With 5 college kids I think 2 toilets and 2 separate baths (as opposed to a split bath) beats tech-friendliness and Murphy beds of RIV.

THIS. This is the right answer. BLT or Kidani has the extra bathroom which make them the de-facto best bets... of the two BLT has a location closer to the action.

Since we had so many points banked over, we spent the extra points for a 2BR for our recent college grad and his friends going in a few weeks. That way gives more beds for sleeping and the extra bathroom you don't get at SSR in the 1BR.

One bedrooms at Grand Floridian have the full kitchen for cooking etc. Are they going to be eating out or using the kitchen area for making meals? If they don't need a "true" one bedroom I would get two connecting studio rooms. At the Grand Floridian two studios would give them two queen beds, two queen sofa sleepers, and two fold downs. This means extra closet space too. The studios have refrigerators, coffee makers and microwaves. The studio bathrooms are split so they would have 2 showers with the sink area and then 2 tub/showers with the toilet. Four people could actually be showering at once since each room has a stand alone shower and a tub/shower combo. If they are going to be spending most of the time in parks I don't think the kitchen area of the one bedroom would be utilized and to have two studios would means no one has to share a bed. Also there is a lot of nice storage under the bed in the studio room. The one beds do have laundry BUT on floor four there are laundry facilities that are free to use. (Tuck a few Tide Pods in a shoes for laundry if they plan to pack light, save checked bag fees, and do laundry.) You can google the room layouts at the different DVC properties to see the room layouts. My significant other and I always go the one bedroom route with king bed BUT when I travel with a girlfriend(s) we always go the studio route. Also to note: Sandy Cove at the GF in the main building is a great place to pick up peanut butter, jelly, bagel, chips, cold cuts, fresh fruit, bottled water etc. Of course, more expensive than home but far cheaper than eating out three meals a day. Also double check if they have reinstated annual passes by then. Why? If ONE of the group buys an annual pass ALL in party benefits from the discounts on food/drink, free parking, and merchandise. Time to put the education to work and do some math to figure out if one AP would be of benefit. lol
