Bernies Angels, our new summer home

Good morning everyone.

Sandi, I hope DS finds another, better house.

Lots of thunderstorms here too, LK.

Off to work.

Okay, I am quietly sneaking in here pleading for clues on the riddle today... totally clueless here! Thanks ;)

I am back online for the first time since Wed. PM

Mrs. AlabamaAlan did well with the special music for the Alabama Supreme Court. There were state supreme court justices, former senators, and a former governor in attendance so we were in high cotton so to speak.

I had a problem with the van Thursday afternoon and had it towed to the dealership for a quick repair.

We drove 3 hours north for a quick funeral (I sat in the van with the girls) drove even further for an even quicker graveside service (me and girls in van again), waited for everyone to quit visiting and move their vehicles so we could leave....

Drove back home, grabbed the suitcases and drove three hours south to visit family for the holiday. We came home last night.

So what happened on the riddle Thursday or Friday to prompt such a scandal?

Please help!!!

Hiya Alan! Good to see you. I hope in all the running around, you managed to have a great weekend! As for the scandal I guess some were accused of cheating  Well I never... I am an angel :o

Oh and bad news from the weekend. My brother more or less has it that we ARE doing a cruise for my dad's birthday No offense to the cruisers here, but it isn't my cup of tea. I don't like water THAT much and it's just not a thing that I am interested in. I just have to tell my brother that I won't be going. I have thought about this and initially we were just going to have Luis stay back as to not waste his vacation (he only gets 2 weeks) but the more I thought about it the more I was bothered by spending a week with just my family (we don't get along that well) and honestly I don't like spending THAT much money on something I don't want to do. I am also annoyed that this was brought up as a gift for my dad's 60th birthday and as a family trip. Originally more ideas were welcome and now Pete has shut me off. My brother more or less said "We are going to take Dad on a cruise and you all are welcome to come" So that's fine, I won't go. Sorry, I am bummed because I thought we could try to agree on something we all liked. I guess not...

tiny vent over.

Elaine-{{hugs}}] I'm sorry that the trip for your Dad didn't turn out the way you had hoped. If your brother had been able to bend & find a compromise it could have been a lot of fun for you all.
We were just informed over the weekend that next year for the 4th we are taking my inlaws to Rockport Mass to celebrat their 40th anniversary. My MIL has requested that we go there....SIL had wanted to go to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac. No one else got a vote..........Apparantly Rockport is where they spent their honeymoon. I think it should be fun.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Rockport.....that's "practically" my backyard!!!!!!!

and Gail's too!!!!!

 Satine, Lars, E!, Carol, SB, LTM, and AA!!!!

Elaine, I gotta tell you, I love to cruise, and I wish there was more water time! Most of the cruising part is done at night, port to port, so you get to spend time being hassled by natives. Since Pete (hmm, where have I heard that name in that tone of voice?) has changed his plan from family vacation to "We are taking Dad", it allows you to bow out gracefully and take Dad to WDW! Families, gotta love 'em.

As to the Riddle Scandal!!!! I think our meister had entirely toooooo much time on his hands this weekend. He was "working", the wife and girls were gone, there was a card game with cheap cigars and booze, all that adds up to no good.

Where is Rockport? Don't they make shoes?

Lorraine, what a job, work today, party on Wednesday.

Alan, are you driving in your sleep? That was a lot of back and forth. And I am not making light of what happened, but perhaps keeping the girls in the van at the graveside services was a really good idea, especially when the officiant talked about "ashes to ashes", it might have given thoes 2 ideas for the future! Nice the wife got to do the Court thing, was it in the paper, can we get a link?

And I am never going to ask for or give out hints again, unless I don't know or do know the answer. Which today I don't.

Sorry if I sounded whiny there... I am a bit bummed. I am annoyed mostly because my brother had ONE intention (he keeps talking about how he wants to go to Bermuda) and veiled it. I don't like it. I don't like the guilt both of my siblings have made me feel for not wanting to go in the past. He was willing to look into other cruises I admit, but he isn't getting it through his thick skull that I dont' want to cruise and especially not a 7 night cruise where my DH can't join me. That's the last thing that started to get to me... spending a week or more away from Luis w/o any good means of contact. Florida and Chicago are one thing, but out in the Atlantic is another. So I have to find a nice way to explain that I have zero interest in cruising and to tell them to have fun.

Oh and birthday or not, I have every intention of taking my dad to WDW... I would rather when Luis comes too just to make it more of a family trip, but some day I do think my dad will come :)

Lars, I am not too familiar with Rockport, but I hope you all have fun! I think that is a neat way to want to spend your anniversary and as neat as the hotel on the Island sounds, it seems like a very fitting place to want to go.

So sorry you DB wasn't open to reasonable suggestions. I would tell your Dad he can come join you at WDW right after his cruise! That way he wont feel like you are slighting him. I have to agree with you about cruising. It isn't my cup of tea either.

BWAHAHAHAHA :p :p Good one!

How's that for irony? You've already said the answer once today ;)

But I am far too law abiding to say any more!

I think they are immune to clues, alan! I have given out several clues and the actual answer numerous times on the riddle thread, and they still can't get it!:p

Elaine, I'm sorry to hear things are not working out.

However, from the way you described it in the past, your brother and SIL were being pretty inflexible anyway, so I would have no guilt about not paying or going.

It's going to put a lot more expense on them to treat your father, but if the trip is more for them than him anyway.....

Diane, I wish I could tie it in with their trip... they will be leaving out of New York (close to them since they are in NJ) and it wouldn't work. Plus neither my dad nor I have any intention of going to WDW in July. He wants to go in the cooler months (preferably Dec-Feb) so I might have to work that for him. I just have to explain it to my dad nicely that it isn't him or a family trip, it is the type of trip only. It would be like forcing my SIL to go to WDW with us ;) I am sure he'll understand that. And if not... well I don't wnat to think about it. I wish we would just tell him and get it over with!!! I can't stand waiting the next few weeks!!!!

Reposting this, Alan, 'cuz I think you may have missed it. It looks like we were posting at the same time.

When is your Dad's actual birthday, E? I think your telling him just like you stated above is exactly the right way to do it.

Diane, his birthday is on the 23rd (just over 2 weeks away  ). I am not sure how we are going about telling him since this is my brother's deal now.

Oh and between you and another "angel" I got the answer for sure ;)
