Berlin or Warnemunde?

For those of you going on the Baltic Cruise this year, I just wanted to offer my services. Not long back from a week long trip to Berlin and then Rostock/ Warnemunde. Although Berlin is a fascinating city, it’s a 3 hour trip from the coast so would make for a really long day. There is lots to do in Rostock and surrounds and it’s well worth staying in the area. I used to live and work just outside Rostock and was back visiting friends so granted I’m a teeny bit biased but if anyone has any questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

We did Berlin by train, got a private part of the carriage and a private tour in Berlin, was fantastic.

Only issue was the train was delayed on the way back and sat outside Warnmunde for a long time, the ship waited.

Do you feel like you were in Berlin long enough to do it justice? A friend of ours from Germany told us not to spend only a few hours there, but I really wish we had gone anyway. We did Warnemunde and it was o.k. but I still kicked myself for missing Berlin. We've booked another European vacation for next year which will include three days in Berlin.

When visiting on a cruise, there is never ever enough time, but in the end we had a good amount of time there and saw what we wanted to see. The tour company for DCL chartered the train, you could Either have a standard tour and open train seating, first come first served, or the signature trip, private train cabin and private tour.

Everything worked like clockwork until the return train.

In Berlin we were not rushed we saw everything we wanted to see and expected. It was a great day.

Second only to our private tours in St Petersburg by Anastasia travel there which were beyond brilliant.

Please visit Berlin, if you don't travel that way often. It is an amazing city. Of course, you can never do it justice on a short visit, just like Rome, London... But better to see it than to miss it altogether!

I think you need to weigh up if you will ever be back in Berlin. If not, then go for it but in all honesty we spent two and a half days there and still did not tick everything off our list. Actually a week wouldn’t be long enough. A lot of the sights are spread out so it would be difficult to do everything in a day and you would miss out on all the museums for a start. I think Warnemunde and Rostock offer a relaxing alternative to a port intensive cruise.

Agree,

I live and work in and around London and it's my hobbie and passion, still not seen everything, still find new stuff, I would love to go back by plane to Berlin and also cruise to warnemunde so I can visit it as well, but pleased what we actually did.

We didn't want to spend so much time traveling with our daughter so did a Warnemunde-Rostock-Schwerin excursion with TJ Travel, which was great. (We used them for our 3 days in St. Petersburg as well - highly recommend them).
