I just got my BEO today and OH MY GOSH! has anyone else noticed all the delivery and handling fees they charge? I about died when I saw that I am renting 22 chairs and the price for those was $112.00 but the delivery fee was $180.00 WHAT!!!!!! So far according to the BEO I am about 8,000.00 over budget DF was not happy:rolleyes1 Please help:sad1:

I agree. That might help us help you :goodvibes If we know which areas are too expensive it will help us in offering alternatives.

Well here are a list of things that concern me about the BEO
1.) Delivery fee's that are more expensive than the items
2.) I am having the bride of happiness cake for 65 people but they are charging us for cutting it for 115 ppl
3.) The white chocolate castle cake topper that we are paying for has a $40.00 handling fee
4.)Wine that I can get for 8.00 at target they are charging 32.00++ for
5.) And how much was anybody's DJ ? It is almost 3000.00 for the one they have on the BEO
6.) We are having our reception at ADH and when we discussed putting our names on the Marquee we thought since we were renting the place all night that it was free(also nobody mentioned there was a fee) and now they are charging 200.00 for it

I am just kind of fustrated:confused3

I thought that the dj is 1500,that's the price in the wishbook, they are out of their mind.I will not be paying 3000 for a dj when they range from 600-1500.

I would definetely get the dj cost down. Seriously that is ridiculous.

There are always hidden charges in everything. It's annoying but I do know that a lot of places have cake cutting fees.

1.) The delivery charge for all upgraded chairs, whether it's 1 or 100, is $180. The chairs come from an outside company believe it or not.
2.) That sounds like a simple mistake/oversight.
3.) & 4.) Welcome to Disney.:rotfl:
5.) Is there any additional and/or special equipment listed? This could also be an oversight, but sometimes if you ask for specific things, the equipment charges add up. There are locations (though mostly outdoor ones) where the DJ fee is higher than the 'norm'.
6.) That is not free. (I don't think it's ever been free.) I'd be mad that my WP didn't warn me, but I doubt there's anything that can be done about that.

"Sticker shock" is normal for your first BEO, don't worry! In my first planning session, my coordinator would mention something and I would say "that sounds good" but that was before the price... When I saw them on the BEO I was like "okay never mind!".. Our first BEO was like 19,000 and we got it down to like 12,500 without any major sacrifices. You'll figure out a way to make it work!

If you are in atlantic dance hall you need to pay for the DJ for the cocktail hour and the reception because it is all one room. This is different than having the reception in a ballroom and the cocktail hour in a different room down the hall. I don't know about it being $6000 though...are you sure there aren't other items wrapped into that charge?

The best thing is to talk to your EM. They are the ones who can really help you get the price to within your budget.

I second this...they can suggest alternatives that will give you the same look but are cheaper (we switched from glass to plastic plate charges and it saved us lots of $$)...you might be able to keep your Marquee by trimming other things you haven’t thought about

I know that for any beverages, they charge not only sales tax (6.5%) but also a serving fee or gratuity or bar fee or something that's an additional 20%. That explains your oh-so-expensive wine. I thought it was ridiculous, especially since they charged me that additional fee for having SPRITE at the wedding. It's a soft drink, people!

ok I agree the DJ price is RIDICULOUS. I got married in New Orleans and had a live band for 3 hours and it was under 3000 dollars! (barely) I would definately check on that.

Call your EM hopefully he/she will have sugguestions for you - to cut -during my planning session my EM kept saying nothing is set in stone everything can be changed - and we will work with you.

I was really lucky and my BEO was very close to budget when we got it but I did ALOT of reseach before and knew what I wanted and what I could get- but she was very helpful in helping me get where I needed to be

I just double checked my BEO and there is no fee for the marquee. We are having our names put on it but there was no fee mentioned to us. Also, our dj is listed as 1,500 for our five hour reception at the ADH. I would check on these two things. Maybe the price for things has gone up.

We were in shock when we first got our budget too. The flowers were the major expense for us. With 7 bridesmaids it was just unbalivable all the flowers were. One suggestion is that the exsisting chairs at the ADH are nice looking. I have seen pictures of people that just used the chairs there and they looked nice. We are going for chair covers, just because I want to add in more of my wedding colors. That may be a cheaper optoion to ordering special chairs.

My advice to trying to reduce costs in the BEO is to focus on the big items. If you are trying to cut out several thousand dollars, cutting out the $100-200 items really aren't going to make a dent (even though they are annoying). We came up with all kinds of silly ideas to try to cut costs and in the end they weren't worth it.

The cake cutting fee is an oversight, but you might have these problems up until your final budget. Did the 115 apply to the dinner as well, because that would have racked up a lot of money as well. You have to stay on top of this.

I had the upgraded chairs in my budegt and cut them out and used chair covers (I knew I would so I selected covers while at my planning session) -

on your flowers adding greenery in your centerpieces can reduce cost and you can also alternate a flower arrangement with something else - we did glass bubble bowls with floating candles on every other table and then the arrangements that we used at the WP on the other tables.

We only did a champagne toast for the wedding party - we had the beer and win pkg so we just let them get their bev of choice- plus there were some no drinkers-

Let me think....I will try to remember more hope that will help

To get my BEO down:

- I cut out all ceremony decor except for petals for the isle (pretty, but not needed as we'll be there all of 20 minutes),

- cut the centerpieces (there's only 3 tables so we're using the bridesmaids bouquets for double duty),

- took a chunk out of the floral budget by skipping bouts and corsages (at $25 each it adds up!). I checked with mums, grandmothers, and groomsmen and it was agreed it wasn't necessary.

- because of the menu I've selected (it already has sweets and then English trifle for dessert, and then a dessert party that night!) we're having mini cakes but at 1 per couple to share. I wanted cake, but was worried it would go to waste and Maxine suggested this!

- I took out the trees with twinkle lights (looked pretty but I didn't think people would notice if they weren't there),

- I took out all decoration for the dessert party. People won't be looking at the tables anyway!

I'm sure once you get going with your planner you'll find lots of places to cut back. :thumbsup2

I was also going to add - if you have a buffet - they decorate the buffet tables for no charge and they look really nice - so that may help in the decor arena.

The other thing is your guest list - can you cut it have you sent invitations yet - also by the time it was said and done I was able to cut one whole table out - so that really helped and I added Mickey and Minnie at the last min- they were awesome! But that doesnt help you - ok what else --- all for now - good luck!
