I was not a DVC member when the 2005 cruise started booking. What is special about the DVC member cruise and benefits of it over a regular DCL cruise? Thanks.

First and foremost - they make you feel really warm and fuzzy and part of the family. Everyone on ship was a Disney addict just like yourself. There were "Welcome Home"'s all over.

Secondly - on this particular cruise, we got a nicer (IMHO) itinerary, by going to Key West instead of Nassau.

More interesting and exciting entertainment - you had talks by lots of Disney folk, including Jim Lewis (VP of DVC), a Broadway singer, and the wonderful talk by Art Linkletter (he was incredible).

Discounts and incentives on add-ons exclusive to the cruise.

Lots and lots of "stuff" - a great welcome basket for EACH person, DVC towels, pins just about every night, etc etc.

And this comment from one CM during the 70's night... "What happens on the DIS boards stays on the DIS boards".... they are well aware of us!

Beth summed it all up pretty well, they treated us fabulously. We were hoping to meet more Dissers but those we met were terrific. It really is fun to have a face to put with those board names!

We've cruised RC and DCL prior to this our 1st member cruise and boy we won't miss the member cruise if at all possible. Hope everyone gets a chance to do this magical trip!

What kind of add-on incentives are they speaking...? Do I wait until next year to add-on?

Thanks

Steve

If you purchased 100 add-on points you got a limited edition Mickey Mouse sculpture from Arribas Brothers.

If you purchased 150 add-on points you got the sculpture and a trip to Disneyland in California.

If you purchased 200 add-on points you got the sculpture and a trip to Disneyland Paris.

If you purchased 250 add-on points you got the sculpture and a trip to the new Disneyland Park in Hong Kong.

To add to what Mary posted about add on bonuses I believe that those with Use Years that have not started yet (eg Oct and Dec) are allowed to bank all of the 2004 use year points into 2005 without penalty and they do not have to pay maintenance on those points.

OK, that answers that question... maybe I will wait to add-on during the Member Cruise! Although, I do find it odd/unfair that they offer a benefit to only those w/UY that have not started to banked and not pay MF. With a cruise in Sept./Oct., that would elimnate 2/3 of the membership.

Keep in mind that just because they had that offer on the 2005 cruise does not mean they will have a similar offer in 2006.

I'm just curious, did the trips include transportation as well as room and tickets?

One thing that may or may not be a benefit to you. A normal DCL voyage has about 1,000 to 1,100 children on the boat, the DVC cruise had about 400. This came from the cruise director on the last day.

Wow, this alone would be incentive enough for us to go on the members cruise!

We heard this from the lifeguard CM's several times. Their comments were that it was nice to see kids actually being able to move in the pool rather than just stand in the water.

My DS5 thought it was crowded when there were 20 kids in the pool. ;) I can't imagine having 1,000-1,100 on the ship and a pool experience being a real happy one.

when will they do a 2006 member cruise I always get the info after it happens

Yes, the guide said that to us when we met with her, that it was a good deal for Oct/Dec use year owners. Of course we won't feel too bad about those extra points as I know we can use them. We will however be sure to confirm the information once we get our docs and read through them.

There is definately a more unified feeling on the ship when we "take over". I loved seeing "WELCOME HOME"signs everywhere.
The itenerary is what sold me. I really wanted to go to Key "West, but I didn't see a 7 day in our future. Another bonus was the inclusion of all tips. DH liked that one(although we did give a little extra to some).

The kids loved the room in the pools and the daily gifts delivered to the room.

From start to finish DVC and DCL together make it special. This was my 4th DCL and it was the best! :cheer2:

I thought the booking date was December 3rd. Just looked at the Member site and can't find any date. hmmmmm.

Looks like they removed the 12/3/05 date from the site because I also saw it there yesterday.
