Benefits of concierge services at Poly?

I'm sure this question has been answered more than once, but I am new to these boards so please bear with me!

I have a room booked at the Poly (standard Garden View). Can someone tell me what the benefits are for a concierge room at the Poly? If I understand correctly, is breakfast included? I've already booked the dining package so does anyone think it makes sense to do concierge then?

This trip is for me, DH, and DD (6) and DS (4) - are they too young to appreciate the concierge benefits? Is there a large cost difference? I want to see if I can surprise my husband with this without him noticing! :rolleyes1

Concerige costs extra

here are some of the benifets
- a 'breakfast' like meal (corn muffins etc)
- drinks 24/7
-water bottles and soda
-they help book things for you
-food (lunch/dinner (light) )
- snacks
-cordials...
-other stuff i am leaving out ( i forgot)

We've stayed Poly concierge twice and love it. My ds is mad that we aren't going back there next summer (we are trying AKL concierge instead). One of the benefits not listed is the location of the concierge long house. It's wonderfully situated by both pools and and easy walk to the monorail. It's also very nice to sit on the beach to watch the fireworks at MK and be back in your room 2 minutes later.

Personally I LOVE the itinerary planning! I didn't have to bother with any reservation headaches. The concierges took care of our dining, show and golf reservations. Also it seems that if your reservations are booked by the concierges you may get better seating. When we went to the Luau (sp?) we sat right in front, great view! Last year we had terrific seats at the Hoop de do review, ds was chosen to go on stage!

Anyway we have found that staying at the Poly concierge is fabulous, dh will only stay concierge now. I hope that AKL concierge will be just as fabulous for us.

I will be staying Polynesian concierge this December, but one thing I want to point out is that by no means is the lounge food a meal replacement. There is no lunch or dinner - there are snacks and light appetizers. "Breakfast" is coffee, tea, juice, bagels and muffins. There are cordials in the evening, but it's not something to get drunk off of, because they won't allow it - from my understanding they give you 1 or 2 and that's it. I'm not too sure if it's drinks 24/7 as a previous poster claims as the lounge hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m..

The reasons why I wish to stay concierge for this trip are:
1.) to experience the hoop-la everyone makes a big deal about
2.) to have someone book/rearrange my tours and dining because I like to change my mind last minute - even while on my vacation and I'd rather someone else do it than me trying to
3.) to be guaranteed a building in prime location on resort property

I'm going for the experience this time around. I really want to see if for me, the extra cash out of hand is worth it.

If the concierge makes your dining reservations do they do it the 90 days out or do they do it when you get there? If they do it when you get there, do they still have good seating times available at popular restaurants?

We are staying at the Poly for 6 nights. My parents are joining us for the first 3 nights. I know they would not do concierge because they thought the Poly was too expensive already. Would it make sense to split my stay at Poly - 3 nights in a garden view and then 3 nights in a concierge? Has anyone ever done this?

Concierge is having a prime location with a secure building that has your room and the concierge desk and lounge. There is preplanning done for you before your trip if necessary. There are some differences in the room amenities. Turndown service is automatic.
Morning service 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. offering muffins and pastries, tropical fruit, cereal, milk, orange juice, pineapple guava juice, ice tea, coffee drinks and hot chocolate from the new coffee machine, glass bottles of water, and toasters are available. Yogert and oatmeal are available as well as other items by Afternoon service (not Lunch) 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. offering fruit juice, bottled water, soda, ice tea, juices, cookies, tropical fruit, flat bread, gummy worms and m&m's for the kids.
Evening service 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. offering different themes each day. Each night has fresh fruit with caramel dipping sauce, cheeses, crackers, vegetables with ranch dipping sauce and wines offered with a changing menu of hot items for each night.
Late evening service 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. offering wine and cheese as well as cordials and desserts.

Nothing is available 24/7 but sometimes some cookies or something might still be out late at night. The lounge does not close off like other resorts but the offerings are put away at certain times.

Jogging strollers are also available to concierge guests (first come first serve).
