Newbie here...
I'm trying to check in and got to the credit card part. Is there any benefit to linking my Disney Visa? Like the gift shop discount or anything? If not I get better rewards with my SW card.
TIA!

Just found the 2017 Disney Visa "perks" thread. So for our December 2016 cruise there is no discount in gift shops, if I understand this right.

That's correct. For a Dec. 2016 cruise, if you pay the full amount using your Disney Visa you will be eligible for a $50 beverage credit; no other onboard offers. There are some new onboard discounts offered for those who use a Disney Visa for the onboard account on 2017 cruises.

Enjoy your cruise!

Do you have to have your disney visa linked onboard to get the drink credit? Meaning, I paid for the cruise itself with my disney visa. Do I still get the drink credit if I link a different card once I'm onboard? Is it just the pre-paid stuff that needs to be paid for with the disney visa (including tips if I chose to pay those in advance)?

Yes. This year's perk was the $50 beverage credit as long as the whole cruise was paid for via the Disney VISA. Next year's perks are different. You only have to use the Disney VISA for your onboard account to get them.

If you are cruising before 12/31/2016, to be eligible for the $50 beverage credit you must pay for the entire cruise using your Disney Visa. That means deposit and final payment plus any interim payments; I also have heard that it includes any add-on (transfers, pre-paid gratuity, etc.) before the cruise. I don't believe there is any requirement to have the Disney Visa listed for on board purchases to qualify for the $50 beverage credit.

The new "perks" for 2017 cruises have changed from prior offers and will require the Disney Visa to be listed as payment for your onboard charges. That's for cruises debarking 1/1/2017 and after.

Enjoy your cruise!

In 2016 you do not have to have your Disney Visa registered for your onboard purchases to get the $50 drink credit. You do have to have the offer code on your booking though. Even if you meet the criteria for the offer (pay for you cruise fare entirely with your Disney Visa; no other promotional code) you won't get the credit if you don't have the booking code. Make sure it is added when final payment is made. If you are past final payment, double check the code is on your booking.
