Only 12 days away from being at BWV:banana::banana::banana:, is their any benefit to on-line check in at the 10 day window?

Not everyone will agree, but my experience with online check-in has been positive. There is a separate line at registration and ID cards and packets are ready for you on arrival. For myself, it shaved off quite a bit of time. Good luck!:goodvibes

I haven't found a real benefit to it. Maybe at the resorts like BLT where you check in at a huge resort that has both DVC and non-DVC rooms, but at OKW, I saw no real point to it.

OK, I'll chime in. I did online check-in the last 5 visits. I had requests on all of the visits. While my room was ready upon my arrival (noonish) every time, I NEVER got any request. Fast forward: 2 weeks ago I stayed at OKW. Again I had a request (nothing much, just upper floor). I could not do online check in (I guess a glitch because of my part ddp). So I arrived without doing online check in and to my surprise my room was ready and I got my requests. I'm thinking next time I'm not doing online check in to see what happens. I've never gotten a request during my BWV stays (ever) and I've stayed there 10 times over the past few years. I keep my requests down to 1 normally, either ground floor, or dedicated studio, or tennis court location, and I always get the opposite of whatever I request. My next trip is at BWV, so not doing the online checkin anymore. BTW I've never had a wait at checkin, so online checkin is not a time saver at all. Actually when I arrive if the online CM is not busy, I've been directed to them for checkin.

Since that has been my experience at OKW too, I know I'm done doing online check in there. It really doesn't save you that much time anyway. Maybe it would if you were using DME, but we never do.

I used on line check in at OKW in December. The online check-in line was shorter when we arrived. Our room was ready at 11AM and our keys were already made. We got a refurbished room per our request. The building location was not quite what I requested but pretty close. I also used online check-in for our night at POR and the regular check in line actually moved faster even though it was longer because they had more CMs working it. Our keys had not yet been made at POR and it did not seem that online check-in saved us any time there.

I've used it for stays at SSR, VWL, BWV, BLT and AKV. The only request that I've ever made was "near transportation" for our SSR stay. I made this request on line and it was granted. The times I do not use on line is because I do not want the charging privileges on all of the cards, and if you do on line everyone will have the charging privileges. Our BLT was our first stay that I used on line check in and even the DGC had charging on their cards.

We did not see any difference in online check in vs non this past December stay at AKL & SSR.

We did online check-in the last two trips and it didn't really save any time. Not sure if our room was ready sooner than it would have been otherwise or not.

My experience with on line check is that I've always gotten my room early but never get any of my requests but they not guaranteed anyways. So I guess you need to decide what matters most early check in or room requests.

Online check is is a product for Disney's cash Guests and the DVC is using it so that everyone will be on the same page, even though it really isn't designed for DVCers. The requests that you may select during check in are cash resort requests. DVC requests should be made with MS but those requests have also been limited with the recent software changes.

Sometimes online check in will help you get your room earlier and sometimes it won't. Sometimes the line is shorter for online check in and sometimes it's longer.

Without knowing how the rooms are assigned at the different resorts, there isn't any way to determine if online check in helps or hurts.

We often make special requests for our room. And my understanding is you are less likely to get your request of you do the online check in. Therefor we do not do the online check in. Also we usually arrive for check in pretty early so we've never seen a big difference in wait times or lines.

I've stayed at BWV many times and have never seen a long line for check-in. Maybe a couple people at most. I have not done online check-in, I'd rather do it in person.

Ok I am going to step into the fire.

I love online check in! KNOCK ON WOOD We have gotten every request we have made since we have started using it both DVC and non DVC.

Pop Century - requested king bed, got king bed (in the past we have requested it and never got it)

POR - requested building close to main building, got building 18 (before it became preferred, and again have made this request before and never got it)

BWV 1 bedroom - requested 4th or 5th floor, end of hallway for view of the fireworks, got it.

BLT MK studio - requested highest floor available, got 8018, 10th floor, GREAT VIEW.

I have travelled to disney every year these last 10 years, multiple times usually, and before online check in we almost never got our requests. Once online check in started, and we tried it (after a CM at Pop Century recommended it), we have become die hard fans.

Of course I also usually fax our resort requests in too, in addition to adding them to our reservation. some may say it doesn't work... but it works for us.

Thats our take on it atleast

Jennifer

We have used it for all of our DVC trips and so far, it has worked out nicely. I like being able to have that piece done ahead of time.

And, now that I will have to pay for the DDP ahead of time, it will go even faster.

I think the main reason I like it is it makes those last few weeks go by faster as we count down the days until we can check in online.

So far, none of the times we have done it has there been long lines or shorter versions for the regular guests so I think it has saved some time.

We love it. Used DME and they met us at the door with our packet without ever going to the desk at all. Very positive experience all 3 times we have used it.:goodvibes

Our experience with online check-in is that we get to check-in pretty much immediately, when we dont use it, we wait forever. That is really the only feedback i can give.

what do you mean by fax request in?

We used on-line check-in during Marathon Weekend; unfortunately, the BW does not have a separate area for this. Upon arrival, we waited on the same line as everyone else (only about 10 minutes), but our room was ready early (about 1pm), and we received a room upgrade without even asking.
I would absolutely give it another try!! ;)

When we stayed at SSR and did not use online check-in, I asked for Congress Park and got the exact area that I wanted. Slowest check-in ever - the line was not long (only 2 parties ahead of us and 2 CM working) but it took over 20 minutes to check in.

I like online check in as it was really quick at AKV - no waiting. We arrived at 11am and were giving a pager so went to Sanaa for lunch. We got paged before noon that our room was ready so called the front desk and found that our luggage had already been delivered to it. Problem is that I had requested one area and got the exact opposite.

Not sure whether or not to use online check-in at OKW on our next trip. I like checking in early but am willing to wait a bit longer if it means getting my room requests.
