I was just wondering if they have bendy straws at most places or if they are just a standard straw? My 2 year old does much better with a bendy straw. With a standard straw he wants to tip the glass towards him to drink, didn't know if I should think about packing a few straws?? TIA!

Only a couple places have bendy straws and I cannot for the life of me remember where. DH said he thinks either the preschool breakfast at H&V or the Crystal Palace or both.

Anyway, we bought a 100 pack of bendy straws for $2 at Tops and I just toss a couple in my shoulder bag every morning. :goodvibes

I am totally with you...bendy straws rule for smaller kids. :thumbsup2

Something that has worked really well for both my little ones ... I carry a pair of children's safety scissors in my purse and just cut the straw off to about one inch above the lid. The kids no longer have to tip the cup to reach the end of the straw!

Have a great trip!

I vote for the sewing scissors too. I have some that fold up so the point is not exposed, and I take them everywhere.

Someone double-check me (because I haven't been there in a while) - but I don't think there are ANY straws at AK, as they are dangerous to the animals. So be sure to take a sippy cup on that day if he won't use a regular one.

Just back from a trip over Labor Day and AK now has straws!!! They are paper ones, so they are good for the enviroment and pose NO danger to the animals.

When we first visited EPCOT in the 80s I can remember paper straws at the Electric Umbrella. Long gone, now, but maybe they will bring them back!

Also note that most of the places that you order drinks from don't have lids on the cups! So you may just want to bring a cup for the little one if it might be a problem!

I always just asked for a lid and was given one without a problem. Took me forever to realize this was even an option, but another Mom clued me in!

I recently read a great idea in a Parenting magazine about bendy straws....it suggested keeping some in a travel toothbrush holder in your diaper bag. I'm definitely going to try it since it's compact and keeps them clean!

now that is smart! I was wondering how you would keep them from getting bent and broken.

I hate the paper straws. I'd rather not use them at all! (I guess its still better than nothing for a toddler.) Does anyone else dislike them, or is it just me?

What a GREAT suggestion!! I think I will throw one in my diaper bag right now ... with that and the scissors I should be covered. Thanks for passing on the tip! :thumbsup2
