Do the CS and TS restaurants generally have bendy straws for the little ones or are they straight? The bendy ones work SO much better when you are only 6 inches taller than the table ;-) If they are all straight, we'll bring some.

Thanks!

They are BENDY!!! I have those same issues with my kids and I was so excited when the bendable straws!!! :cool1:

But not all of the TS and CS have bendy straws. I was so happy that I brought mine from home last year. I also brought a very small pair of scissors from a travel sewing kit to cut them down for the smaller cups.

Bendy Straws have always been a must-have item for our backpack!

At home we keep them in the diaper bag and the glove box at all times. It's our third time through the toddler phase and we've learned that the spillage risk is too high not to have them readily available.

And keep in mind that they don't have ANY straws at AK (safety for the animals). My 18 mth old didn't know how to drink out of a regular cup yet last year without a straw so that was a bit of a pain. Oh, and 2 years ago I had some straws at the bottom of my diaper bag leftover from a fast food restaurant on the drive to florida and they confiscated them when they checked my bag entering AK! I felt like such a criminal, lol! :rotfl2:

For Animal Kingdom, bring a sippy cup, or something that your young ones can drink out of. And if you bring juice boxes, chances are they will take those straws too. They are very dangerous for the animals!

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I wanted to ask just in case. DS has a couple of straw cups with the rubbery straw attached to the cup (so it can be closed with the straw still attached)... I hope that makes sense. Anyway, would it be okay to bring those kind of cups into the Animal Kingdom? The straws are not disposable.

Thanks!

They do allow the "sport" style sippy cups with the "built in" straws into AK. That is the kind the pp was talking about. Definitely bring those because none of the drinks served at AK come with a Lid or straw.

The one pictured HERE would be one example of what I'm talking about. hth

We have used the disposable sippy cups for travel, and they wash pretty well in hotel sinks because they don't have the seperate valve. you can sometimes find them in the dollar stores, and that way if you have to throw one away, or lose it, it is not really a big deal.

I also carry kid size scissors in my purse to cut straws shorter when need be. Even though DS (4) doesn't need them short, he wants them when DD (2) has her straw cut

Interesting! Thanks for all of the information. I never would have thought of Animal Kingdom and the straw rule. We have a top that screws onto water bottles, but for a child's milk or something, it would be nice to bring a sippy cup to AK. I will add that to the list! I'll also bring a few bendy straws to the other parks just in case. Thanks all! What do people do without this Board?!
