We'll be in WDW from December 21st - January 5th. :santa:

We have to move Jordan out of her DCP apartment on Jan. 2nd. (...unless she decides to extend through Spring) Alison's beating us by a day - we are there for 16 days, she'll be there for 17! :thumbsup2

I would LOVE to spend that many days there. I have friends who did a 3 week stay last summer. My family would go stark-raving mad. :lmao: This is why I need to move to WDW!

Hey Briarmom! Thought you could use one.

I'll be going back December 10-14, FYI.

And I wanted to say that I was very close to misplacing my Homer F&WF button. I put it aside and not in my trip bag, so I freaked a bit trying to locate the buttons. I finally did find them and placed them in my trip bag.

Whew.

Planky would let you borrow his... but you'd have to rip it off his little green furry butt!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (no prob, you say???) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So I booked the Dessert Party on October 15th. It's during the MNSSHP. Does it seem odd that Disney would book both on the same night and force you into going to the party? Not my first choice but it is the only night of our trip we can go.

They say it's a really good place to see the fireworks from and it's dessert... I hear there's not alot of places open in MK that night to eat... just a few... I could fill myself up on goodies and fireworks...

I just had this big long multi-quoted post typed up and it went poof into the abyss. :headache:

Brenda-Your ravioli looked great. I wanted to try that recipe out too when I saw it in the Files, but we are so lazy lately. I give you guys a lot of credit for making your own pasta cause I can't say I enjoy doing that one. I always get that at CG and could easily make a meal on say...4-6 of those suckers! And Pete...OMG...he is way too cute! He just ooozes that velvety suaveness. :rotfl:

Laura-Awesome DL food porn. That deep fried Monte Cristo has my interest piqued, but then most fried foods do that to me. The Dole Whip, well, I have been craving one ever since you posted the picture. One more month and I can satisfy that pang.

Elin-Fred will surely have his fill of Disney by the time our Christmas trip is over. We are there from Dec. 17th-Jan. 2nd. I didn't consult Fred, I just booked it. Tis better to beg for forgiveness than ask permission when related to all things Disney. He accepts it-there was some disclaimer about this in the marriage vows I believe. :rotfl: This is also my way of transitioning my husband into the big move to Florida once the kids get the heck out of the house.

Tonight Drew has commandeered the kitchen. He is making soft shell crabs. :scared: I had to evacuate since I am severely allergic. I told Fred to take photos, so I may have some food pornage to share later.

Ye Ole Friendies!!!
I finally got my pictures onto the computer..so here are some from my fun day /night in Newport with my bridal party last weekend.
Before any imbibing we did tour a Mansion in Newport called :Rosecliff: it was actually where they filmed the Great Gatsby, True Lies and a scene from 27 Dresses..it was gorgeous.they wouldn't let us take pictures INSIDE so we took some outside

The wine of my choice that night was "layer cake" a Shiraz from Australia.

OOOhhhhhhh, I loves me some soft shell crabs, hope Fred gets the pics!!!!!

Gina - Great pics of what looked to be a very special night!:thumbsup2

Hoping y'all can get a December meet planned!:yay:

I'm jealous my DH doesn't eat sushi...:confused3. I'm looking forward to eating it at Cali Grill next month!:thumbsup2

Oh it's so good there.:cloud9:

You know what's NOT good?

No? Lemme tell you.

When you send your dh to get sushi, giving specific instructions on how to order and to make sure to get a take out menu and then he GOES TO THE GROCERY STORE AND BUYS GROCERY STORE SUSHI!:mad::mad:

What part of 'when you fill out the order form....' and 'see if they have an assortment on the menu' makes a man think 'grocery store' and not 'awesome Japanese Sushi restaurant'?:headache:

did you specifically say "awesome Japanese Sushi restaurant" or just, I want some sushi?

I've learned that I have to be very specific.

I didn't. I guess the spoken words/phrases:

'check the menu to see if they have an assortment that we'd like to try'
'remember when we ate there for lunch and we each had 2 rolls?'
'make sure to get a take out menu'
'when you write on the order form make sure you order yellow tail ROLLS'

And the written on a post-it phrases:

'Yellow Tail ROLLS (underlined ROLLS twice)'
'Spicy Tuna ROLLS (ditto)'
'Or get an Assortment Platter'

Just were not enough of a clue.

Oh well. You know what makes me feel better? Saying WIN-kahs over and over. And wine. Because I have like 8 Weight Watchers points left over due to the non-eating of sushi.

It's so hard, because once you get there, you will want to order other things.:rotfl: I remember I ordered the goat cheese ravioli for my appetizer the last time I was there (it was yum) and then I *think* I had tuna sushi X amount of ways...

Anyone have a menu link handy? I'm out of the loop WDW wise. Haven't really spent much time there in the past 3 years.

CA Grill ...

we've had the CA roll there which was good ... nothing spectacular but a good solid entry for when I was a raw fish weeny. :lmao:

Jay ordered a volcano roll one time when we were there and he really liked it - great fish and a good, tingly spice. And last fall we just ordered some salmon and tuna nigiri ... it was wonderful ... sweet and light and flavorful. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

The Sonoma goat cheese ravioli is usually a good bet and the cheeese plate is also usually pretty good. And although I'm not a huge fan of pork for dinner, I almost always order the pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta ... I loves that polenta so much! :cloud9:

I will say this ... we've yet to be impressed by the dessert options at CA Grill. To us that area of their menu is the weakest.

Here we go:

Sushi

Yellowfin Tuna Three Ways - Poki, Tartare, and Tataki $21

Sashimi - Yellowfin Tuna, Salmon and Hamachi $19

"Snake in the Grass" - Barbecue Eel with Shrimp Tempura, Avocado and Cucumber $22

Tempura "Malibu" Roll - grouper, snapper, cobia, hamachi, tuna tartare, and spicy sesame sauce $19

Crab and Beef "Oscar" Roll - jumbo lump crab, seared rare beef filet and spicy tarragon sauce $20

Spicy Kazan Roll - crab, shrimp, bay scallops, tuna and fireball sauce $20

California Roll - jumbo lump crab with avocado and cucumber $20

Yoshie's Deluxe Sushi Platter - maki and nigiri $25

Bolded is what I ate last time I was there. It was excellent.
