Hi,
I just wanted to post about the Beluga Interaction Program (BIP). My husband and myself did this at Orlando Seaworld on Dec 16th. It was AWESOME. I recommend it highly!
You meet by the gift shop of the Wild Artic exhibit, and your guide takes you behind the scenes to get your wetsuit. The have ALL sizes, my husband is big, and they had a wetsuit for him (3xl)
The building where the wetsuits are is divided into a waiting area, a men's locker type room and a women's. There are bathrooms, lockers for your clothes, and showers/stalls (hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner and soap). You change into your wetsuit (very nice and clean). When you're in it (a work out to get in) you go to the waiting room area and get a nice bottle of water.
When everyone is dressed (it is limited to 4 people I believe) you walk over to the exihibit with your guide and she talks about the whales. The trainers come and introduce themselves (even though now i cannot remember their names)
When you get into the water it is SO cold, it's unbelieveable! I was shivering most of the time. You start off sitting in the water on a platform. We had our interaction with "Spooky". They allow you to touch her, and feed her, give her hand commands to do "tricks"...all the while they are taking your picture from the other side (and you are in full view of all the seaworld guests).
They ask you if you want to go into the deep water, and tell you that if you don't want to, it's OK, you don't have to...but of course we wanted to! It was so nice to be out there with the whale! You do more interactions with her, and then head back to the platform so go through a couple more things, and get your "kiss".
We were probably in the water for 25 minutes total. When it's done they give you nice warm towels and you head back to the building to shower and get back into your clothes. You get a book and a free 4x6 photo that you can pick out of all the pictures they take of your entire experience. We ended up buying the entire cd of pictures (84 pictures!), we just wanted to remember the experience.
But it was amazing. They are so big and so gentle...If you have any questions or want to see a picture, email me! But i REALLY recommended it!
