My husband and I are considering the Beluga Interaction Program for February. I have a few questions that are not very clear on the website:

How long is the program start to finish?

How long are you in with the belugas?

Do you receive anything (photo, etc.)?

Can other people watch while you are doing it?

Any and all info is appreciated!

How long is the program start to finish?

probably approx 2 hours from you meet till you come out after getting showered.

How long are you in with the belugas?

you are there for quite some time, you feed them signal for tricks, and get a hug and kiss from the, probably about 45mins.

Do you receive anything (photo, etc.)?

I think DD only recieved a book on mammals

Can other people watch while you are doing it?

People can watch from inside Wild Arctic, directly across from the interaction, they will be able to video and take pics from there.

This was an excellent programme interaction was very good, DD loved it, considered booking for her as a surprise this year again ,but have managed other surprises for her.

If 2 of you are doing it, might be worth buying 1 annual pass, as you get a discount with it, think it was 15% + free parking and discount on merchandise and food, and if you buy the photos of the interaction you will get discount on them.

Thank you Robert! We are Platinum pass holders so we would get a discount :)

So is it safe to say that you recommend the experience?

I'm doing it next month! I can write a review and let you know when I get back. :)

From reading reviews on here (which have been helpful, although not many of them!), they snap A LOT of pictures of you while you are doing the program, unlike WDW tours. If the price hasn't changed, it was $40 for the CD, which to me is worth it!

While i did not do it, my DD loved it, think she enjoyed it more than DC.
Like PP said ,they do take a lot of pics, some where not very good, but you can choose ones you want, we spent $70 ,got a frame and acouple of large pics, sorry but cannot remember if there was an offer or not.

i did this may 2010

you meet your guide and then go change into a wetsuit- once u changed, they escort you to the back area where you can see the back pools and the harbor seals and the fish locker area- also the toys and other interesting things, then you take a photo by the sign and go to meet your trainers then they take you into the habitat (Yes the Actual habitat you see, your the star of the exhibit, everyone that gets off the ride can see you)where you'll meet Aurek, Maple and Klondike, the actual beluga interaction is actually about 30-40min there you get to Learn about them, touch, kiss, hug, and signal them (many fun signals), Plus get SPLASHED (Just a warning lol) then after that you head to the back finish asking the trainer questions and then leave back to the trailer where you squeeze out of the wetsuit and meet up once again with your group, they give you a DVD and the guide takes you back to the polar bear statue where you meet your family. My program started at 11:30am i got out of the program at- 1:10pm

***They Include a CD so talk to your guide, i believe its at the Animal photos area where you leave the park, you can recieve it there IT IS INCLUDED with your program..

My 12 year wants to do this desperately!!! ;)

What's the deal on the photo package? If I don't pay for the photo package, is there any way for me to take photos from the main level?

I did the program last year, even wrote a blog on it and placed the video on Facebook, They include a CD of photos they photgrapher takes during the program, you also see some behind the scenes areas where They may keep other belugas that are not in display, the fishroom and also a few other things.

if you want to know my experience here is the video (watch in HQ)- go to 2:39 for some highlights: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1149160841990 (ps- im the one with the neon stripe ..lol)

here is my blog-

Hi I am trying to watch your video but unable to :sad2::sad2:

I did the program the summer of 2006, which has changed, seeing as how they now have the three younger whales, and not the two older ones that were used when I was there.

The program, I believe is an hour and half long. goes something along the lines of:
-meet your tour guide
-get changed into wetsuits (which could take some time, depending on how familar you are with wet suits)
-head over to Wild Arctic, tour the back beluga areas
-meet your Animal Care people that will be working with you
-and I believe you get 20 minutes interacting with the whales.
-there are photographers there snapping quite a few pictures
-other people can watch from the viewing area overlook in the exhibit, usually your tour guide will tell whoever isn't participating, where and when you'll be out there.
-once your 20 mins are up with the whales, you'll go back and be allowed to shower and change and the program is then over.

I loved every minute of my program that I did. They do always try to get "the money shot" of you getting to hug a beluga or getting a beluga kiss. but they did explain that animals when working with animals, that no two training session (which is basically what your watching) will ever be the same, and that the animals will do whatever they want to do. For example, when I did the interaction, we worked with Bandit on playing fetch. we threw out a basketball and worked on her bringing it back, but we did it step by step. Like first just having her touch it, then just setting out a little ways away and bring it back, and then throwing it out really far and having her bring it back. Now just because I got to do that ,doesn't mean that is what they're going to do every single time.

If you want to see what one is like (if your a passholder), I think they usually do some around noon and around 5pm, I know I've seen them pretty regularly around thoes times before. So you could check it out.

Oh, I'm so excited!! :yay:

I had signed my two older kids up to do this during our upcoming December visit. Then a month or so later, I decided to sign myself up as well. I can't wait!!

A quick tip. Ask how many people are in your group when you sign up and try to pick a group with the least amount of people. You will get mroe one on one time with the whales. Also, think if picture poses you would possibly want. The trainers are very good at poses but sometimes you may want something different! If they can accomidate your request, it will be worth it =)

The video is worth it. We tell people to get one and maybe email the pictures of the other people in the group to cut down on cost.
