Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Brenda,
Hope your feeling better today, shingles is not fun, I had it last year and the rash was on my FACE! I'm not ganna lie it wasn't a pretty sight.:scared: But I know it is painful so try to rest and take your meds. and in a few days you will feel better. hang it there!

Thanks.

And ye-ow ... on your face? How awful ... I would be scared that it would affect my eyes if that happened to me. How long did it take before you noticed improvement? My doctor gave me a 3-5 week window ... does that sound right to you?

I've got a 7-day supply of valtrex and darvocet to take the edge of during the day so that I'm not too miserable at work but I'm going to have to call and ask for something stronger to help me get through the night and actually sleep ... last night was not fun. :headache:

Oh well ... enough complaining. It could always be worse, right.

I started feeling alittle better in about 2 weeks. It was all around my temple area and under my eye it was so swollen. my problem was the Valtrex was making me feel so sick I couldnt take it. I just took Advil for the pain, and lots of cold compresses then it just went away hopefully for good. I feel bad for you it hurts !! feel better.

Thanks.

Poor Brenda - that sounds really painful. Hope you have a speedy recovery

I am also watching Next Food Network Star - and I agree...none of them really stand out for me so far. Should be interesting when they have to cook and talk at the same time. I have a feeling a few will be painful to watch.

Top Chef Masters starts tomorrow - I'm pretty excited for that one! :happytv:

awww Brenda!!! :( Always something with you lady! I am sorry to hear about your shingle situation..NO FUN!! feel better soon!

Also if you want to add our resort to the Oct. list...we are staying at the GF :)..honeymoon style...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

Well...we changed our trip dates to 8/30-9/8. So no more F & W date. Sniff.

And, we had to switch from Pop to ASSports.
I'll go into details on WHY we moved it up at another time, but because of the change I had to quickly make my ADRs.

Things were complicated by the fact that for the first 5 days we will be traveling with SIL and her kids, and they're not getting park hoppers.
So it's the park we're at, or a resort.

Her one restaurant she was excited about was Tutto Italia.

Could NOT get a party of 13 into Tutto to save my life.
1st. they told me "You have to call the restaurant directly."
Then I call Tutto, and the barely English-speaking CM (very sweet, but yikes) tries to reserve for me, and is told by her manager that we have to call in August for a Sept. 2 ADR. :scared1:

:confused3

Yeah, I'm pretty much sure that with Free Dining, that's not happening.

So I waited a day or so to think it through, and called back the Gr. Gatherings folks and said "What can you do for me???"

They looked high and low and couldn't do it.

So, I tried to get into Garden Grill (it was a desperation call, what can I say?)
and same business, hard to seat 13, have to call directly.

I gave up, switched our 'Ohana dinner to our Epcot w/SIL day, and added LTT dinner to our MK w/ SIL day.

So, here's the line-up:

8/30 - SIL and kids eat at Planet Hollywood while waiting for us to arrive.
[They're flying, we're driving with my mom.]

8/31 - Crystal Palace before MK opens
LTT dinner

9/1 - Tusker House lunch (SIL goes to waterparks instead of AK)

9/2 - 'Ohana dinner

9/3 - DHS counter service restaurants

9/4 - Chef Mickey's breakfast
1900 Park Fare dinner

SIL leaves

9/5 - Rose and Crown Dinner (hop from MK)

9/6 - Biergarten lunch (hop to DHS)

9/7 (labor day, wondering how that will be???) Le Cellier lunch (hop to MK)

So a few new choices, mostly boring old ones, but I think everyone will be happy.
And as the trip planner for 13, I'm ok with that.

Oh no! My Mom had it a few years ago with basically no rash. Took 3 visits to the ER to diagnose :scared1:

My good friend at the barn just came down with it to so I know what you are going through.

Ask your doctor about amitriptoline (sp?) it's an anti-depressant that in low doses is used for nerve pain and works very well with shingles pain.

Good luck and be thankful you were diagnosed right away!

AKL - How fabulous is that! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful trip and thanks SOOOOOOO much for any recipes you can get for the exchange. You're the best.

I'm sorry to report that I failed in my recipe mission :sad2: I did check with guest services and they referred me to my waitstaff but when you have 8 women at a table at meal times, it got too crazy. I'm sorry

CHELLE...... Order Mickey Bars from Room Service... There is a private deck at the back of Deck 7... Go get the pastries at Cove cafe during the afternoon and if they have the chocolate cups with the strawberries... have one for me... and of course you MUST have a Konked Cooler!!!!

Have fun!!!

The Mickey bars weren't on the room service menu :confused3 The private deck was very nice, we saw it during our site inspection. I checked the Cove Cafe everyday for chocolate cups with strawberries but they never had them :sad1: I ended up skipping the Konked Cooler in lieu of a mudslide :thumbsup2

Ok... if you're still checking in...

If you are looking for something to do that is NOT in the bars at night... go up to deck 9 and watch the current movie they have on the Ariel screen... (grab snacks and order a drink...) (extra towels if it is cool can be found in the towel cabinets...)

Order more than one entree if you want to try something...

See the fireworks from Deck 10 on the Starboard side or if you can't get there then go to deck 10 by the party on the port side, up by the stage area... the fireworks are shot off from the starboard side but it can get crowded there...

Have your pictures taken

don't miss Palo if you can... go 1st day and get ressies when you board the ship... DEFINATELY a plus!!! (and Palo is where you should order more than one entree.. and dessert!!!)

I promised DH I wouldn't go to Palo without him. I did end up ordering 2 desserts at AP because I couldn't decide which one I wanted and my server told me to get both
We were on Deck 10, directly across from the screen for the Pirates in the Carribean party :cool1:

I'm so jealous! I hope you have a Great time...what am I saying??? I KNOW you'll have a Great time! :goodvibes Just bring back some awesome recipes to share.

Have a great trip. :goodvibes

Chelle, I missed your departure, but I hope you're having a great time!

Tatania, so nice to put a name and face with an avitar! Can we call you Angela? I would vote for Tutto because we loved everything we ate there. (Have not been to Chefs, so I can't comment there.) I had the lasagna, and if you're going to splurge on carbs, this is the place to do it. DH had the fish and mussells, which was very unlike his pasta-loving self, and enjoyed every bite. You know one of my favorite things I had there? Pistachio gelato.

Guess what everybody? We get two days in Disneyland now instead of just one! :cool1: Although, budgetwise, we're having to give up a day at Catalina Island. That's okay, there's next year for that. I'm so excited! That means one day with family at DL and then one day by ourselves.

Thanks everyone it was awesome!

Jaime, really cool that you get the extra Disneyland day :goodvibes

I'm here ... funny you should ask. :goodvibes

I went back to work this week and it's still as bad as it was before I took time off. :rotfl2:

Honestly, and this will sound stupid, but I was a bit review rattled. I had posted that Scottish Arms review with the nephie and his wife and they didn't like the things I said and it actually upset me a lot because I wasn't being malicious or mean-spirited. I dunno, maybe complete and utter strangers understand my sense of humor but my own family doesn't? I always thought the things I wrote came through as good ol' fun pokery but maybe not. So I've spent the last couple of days mired in self-doubt and have been beating myself up for being an insensitive clod who apparently doesn't know the truth when it smacks her in the face. :confused3

To be fair, I did mention something that I really shouldn't have, but I just wasn't thinking. Like I said ... I didn't do it to be rude or anything, but once done ... like the ring of power ... it cannot be un-done. So I need to to back to that review and take some things out. And I guess any meals this fall that include them won't include them ... know what I mean?

I'm kind of sad about the whole thing but I've learned my lesson and that is: never include anyone else in a review ever unless they sign a waiver first. :lmao:

Now I have to ask ... should I have not even posted this post??? :confused3: :scared1: :rolleyes1

I'm so sorry about work & your family

Beautiful food porn, Brenda! I laughed at myself when I looked at the first picture of the tenderloin; I thought it looked like a giant burrito with red sauce! :rotfl: (Probably from the pain medicine I took for the mysterious back pain that appeared this morning. I hate getting older.) Those cakes are ginormous for only having "four" pieces, aren't they? But they sound and look divine.
OMG! I thought the exact same thing about it looking like a burrito! :lmao: and I'm not on pain meds.
Those are my kind of pieces of cake :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry about the problems with your nephew and his wife. I never read anything in your review that would have been disrespectful or anything toward them and I love your sense of humor! Did they never think of how many times they have hurt your feelings (not showing up, etc.)? We will love your review no matter how you post it this fall. We are having worries ourselves about the friends joining us for our December trip, so I can feel for ya.

If anyone needs cheering up tonight or has nothing else to do, guess what's on all evening? Land of the Lost (circa 1975) marathon on the Chiller channel! It's so bad, but I just loved it back then.

On a good note, my parents anniversary party went wonderfully today! It's so nice getting all of my mom's siblings and family together along with friends and neighbors. Her sibs are between 59 and 83 years old so it's always good when they can get together all at the same time. We had a cupcake tree, but have 2 dozen left--anybody want one?? :)

ITA! Family :headache:
Glad to hear the anniversary party went so well :goodvibes

Welcome home! :goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed your trip and ...

VIVA LA MOCHACCINO!!!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome home, can't wait to hear all about it!:woohoo:

Hey, Chelle! I can't wait to hear about your trip!

I will tell ya all about it shortly but first:

Hi friendies. :goodvibes

Let me share the latest funny not-so-funny in the never-ending health escapades of Bendy ...

Last week I started having really bad shoulder pain which I blew off because I always have some kind of ache or pain; by Friday it was gone but that whole area was really itchy and had an annoying burning sensation that didn't go away all weekend. Today the pain was back and I noticed a weird rash ... went to the doctor this afternoon and .... like our house ... I have shingles.

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I thought that was an old person's problem. :rotfl2:

Thanks.

Honestly, there are days when I feel like I just can't win. :sad2:

Oh well, better now than October, right? :thumbsup2

OMG Brenda! What are we going to do with you? :confused3 Can't leave you alone for anytime at all can I :rotfl2:

Yes ... if you've had chicken pox then you are at risk for shingles although it's more common in people who are in their 50s & 60s. My doctor said since my immune system is already mucked up he's not surprised that I ended up with sooner ratherr than later.

Lemme see ... I had chicken pox when I was four years old ... I guess a 35-year dormancy isn't so bad. :lmao:

Jay and I are going to play Mario Kart on the wii ... I suck under normal circumstances but he thinks it will be really funny to watch me play while I'm doped up. :rotfl2: The things I do for my hubby.

Hopefully it doesn't matter how many times you've had chicken pox because I've had them 3 times :scared1:

As for the pain pills, there's no sense in my becoming an addict I stay clear headed on morpheine. 5 shots of tequilla on the other hand :rolleyes1 :upsidedow

Hi Deb ... thanks for the advice. You can laugh if you want but I already take the lowest dose possible of amitriptyline every night for my whacked out bladder problems.

angry innards ... that's what I have. :rotfl2:

I got me some vicodin ... in another ten minute I'm going to try to post something and it will look like this:

kfjiweir refueiqqpsqw ekehsfr ? ehrfsihyer wherw ihewwyhwih!!! :rotfl2:

I guess I should just take them off the list altogether ... or maybe change the names to Guest X and Guest Y. ;)

waaaaaahhhhhh .... the list is just a list.

Thanks everyone for your nice virtual health wishes ... I told my doctor yesterday that I really wanted to go an entire year without seeing him, nothing personal, but you know ....

He said ... "good luck." :lmao:

And then later Jay said, "You're probably putting his kids through college singlehandedly." :rotfl2:

And I can tell you that yes ... shingles is actually quite painful. Yesterday it wasn't too bad but today I'd like to destroy something because it's bad.

I wish I could at least work from home today but we're so short staffed that I just can't do it. If you hear about a doped up St. Louis lady who accidentally parks her car on the tarmac at the airport it may be me ...

Still checking CNN... no such reports.. yet...

awww Brenda!!!

Sorry I may be interupting your honeymoon at the hot tub... :rotfl:

You just have to ask... they usually send up enough for everyone in the room even if you only ask for 1... :goodvibes

Translation.... Bendy needs another glass of wine... ;)

I haven't had hardly any booze at all in the last week and especially now ... I'm actually behaving myself. And that's no fun.

You just have to ask... they usually send up enough for everyone in the room even if you only ask for 1... :goodvibes

Darn it! I looked at the menu and didn't see it so I figured they didn't have them anymore. Didn't see them anywhere on the ship :sad2:

I haven't had hardly any booze at all in the last week and especially now ... I'm actually behaving myself. And that's no fun.

I don't understand :confused3

You havent' HAD to have any booze this week...

Room spinning yet?????

& no mickey bars????? not even any kids have them???? you can get them for dessert... just ask...

I'm taking so many pills right now that I think alcohol would be a very bad idea.

Lemme see ...

I think I'm at 15 daily with the anti-viral stuff they gave me yesterday ... and I'm supposed to have a lunch meeting tomorrow with another bank ... that's gonna go great, I can tell already. :lmao:

Is this for the other job??? Try not to make THAT good of an impression... ;)

Is this for the other job??? Try not to make THAT good of an impression... ;)

Yep.

BTW ... we watched Next Food Network Star on Sunday, too. In some ways I feel like they just tried to re-cast all the people they had last season. We always enjoy watching ... we loved alton brown's comment about those shrimp being the gateway to badness. :rotfl2:
