So, I just watched B&B (the animated one). Belle's walking like a ballerina. I won't get into details, since eng.is not my native tongue, but you know what I mean.
Her walk is very feminine, and graceful.
Another Disney princess that comes in mind is Briar Rose/Aurora. She had that 'air' about herself too. Anyone knows who were they modeled after? I know KAtherine Hepburn was a role model for Belle, but she didn't moved like that. So I suppose only their behavior/character was similar.

Not that I dislike any other kind of movements/walking. I think Mulan, Merida & Rapunzel are interesting, more...ordinary walks, some of them kind of boyish too - which is adorable!

Apparently it was one of the writers, Sherri Stoner, who was the physical reference for Belle. I can't say much for her "ballerina walk" but maybe that's where it comes from. Helene Stanley was the reference fro Aurora. Interestingly, the dance between Belle and the Beast was modeled after Aurora and Philip's dance.

Wow Brian, I didn't knew. I just googled her. There is definetely a resemblance with Belle. Yes, I know about the dance. Also there is one moment in "Princess & the Frog" when Tiana is walking in her yellow uniform, I swear she makes the same grimace/face surprised, or puzzled and everything, the scene reminded me o Belle walking in the village. Is it possible to be taken that moment from B&B to P&F? I'll download again the later one, soonest I can just to show you.

They reuse key animation sometimes to save time. Back in the 60's and 70's they did it a lot - the "xerography era" - which is why some of that comes off skethcy and cheap. In the latter era, they are using computers to assist, so lifting something is probably easier and less obvius too.

Did you watch the making of Frozen 2? There is an episode where an animator is trying to figure out the movement of Elsa for a particular scene and she records herself running on the sidewalk. It is really interesting and a very tender moment.

It's interesting how fatality works. Belle's favorite book predicted some (a big part) of her future life (far off places, magic spells, a prince in disguise) :D

Will watch! I hope it is online. Animation is a world wonder I think! :)

The way Belle walks is actually based on a ballerina's walk and according to the commentary on the DVD of Beauty And The Beast the animators studied different ballerinas by attending dance schools and by watching them move gave them the perfect idea for Belle's walking style
