Belated trip report- June-July 2006 with pictures! *New- Day 6- Mgm*

great report, I am really enjoying it, cant wait for the next installment

Yayyy, I'm enjoying your fun report!

How funny that we both decided to have quiet first nights, but then threw exhaustion out the window and went to Magic Kingdom instead! That's the way to do it!! :thumbsup2

Did you enjoy New York? We LOVED it!! I'd love to hear about your New York adventures too!

:goodvibes Thank you everyone! Cannot believe it has been nearly 6 days since I last posted.. been a really busy week. Got a half day off tomorrow so will hopefully post Day 4! :laundy:

Apologies for the long delay in posting Day 4- Life got in the way. I will try not to let it go for so long for Day 5! :)

Day 4

Sunday 25th June 2006

As I previously mentioned, today was originally planned as our Mgm (or Disney studios- Not sure which it is now?!) day, but tiredness had got the better of us yesterday and we decided to have a non-parks day!

We did not set an alarm and intended to sleep in and have a lazy morning, but things never go to plan. :rotfl:

At 7.30am, the phone rang in our bedroom.
I woke up instantly thinking it was the alarm and then noticed the time and that it was in fact the telephone ringing. Just as a reached over to pick it up- the telephone stopped ringing (Don't you hate it when that happens?). Dbf looked as if he was asleep, so I decided to go back to sleep too. About 15 minutes later, I was just entering dreamland again and the telephone rang again! Arghhhh! So much for a lie in! :headache:
Anyway it was my mother being very cheerful and surprised that she had woken us up after all it is after midday! Lol! I think she was having a dizzy moment and had forgotten that Florida is 5 hours behind England! ;)
Anyway we had quite a long conversation catching up on the last few days and then seeing as we weren't going back to sleep, Dbf decided to phone his family back home in Nottingham too.

While he was on the phone, I decided that I wanted to go shopping in Downtown Disney and go to a water park in the afternoon. As Dbf is wonderful, he didn't argue or disagree with my plan!

We made to the food court for breakfast after 9.30am.
Do you remember that for the last few days I was amazed that we were one of the only people in the Food Court for Breakfast? Well.. now I know why! All the pop residents go for breakfast at 9.30am!! Wow, It was so so so busy! I think Dbf and I just stood there in the entrance in shock at how many people were crammed into the food court. :scared1: We queued for about 15 minutes for breakfast and then again at the cashiers to pay. It was a nightmare, what a stressful way to start the day. We both made a mental note to stick to our early morning breakfasts- Breakfast is way more relaxing (and no queues!) before 8am!

I had the Adult Breakfast Platter and Dbf had the Ham Cheese Omelette, which he said was very tasty!

We took out time eating breakfast (after having to wait for a table to become empty.. yes it was so busy all the tables were full!) and then we took the bus to Downtown Disney.
We shopped for 2-3 hours solid. Dbf had a long list of presents to buy for family back home and we just walked into the shops soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying taking our time. Here are some photos of us being silly in the shops ;)

Highlights include choosing and buying a christmas tree ornament in the Christmas store for our christmas tree. We had it engraved with our anniversary which was in a few days time- I am so glad we did this, it looked so great on the tree at Christmas and brought back lots of happy memories!
We also looked in the pin trading shop as Dbf was still on his quest for a Darkwing Duck pin. We were here for over 30 minutes just looking at the many pins on display! We also spent ages getting lost in the World of Disney store.

We decided to eat at Earl of Sandwich for lunch and we paid out of pocket as the sandwiches are quite cheap and we were saving our counter credits for another meal!
I had the Caprese and Dbf had the Frenchy.. mmmm these are so yummy! We also got BBQ and Seasalt crisps (or chips for american readers!) and chocolate milk. Thinking about it, it was a ready random mix of food but still very yummy! :) The total for everything came to $13.85 so very reasonable!

disneyyy162-1.jpg

As we were queuing it began to rain heavily.. I have no idea where the rain clouds came from as it was sunny when we entered the Earl of Sandwich. It soon became very crowded inside, as it seemed everyone in Downtown Disney decided to take shelter inside the Earl of Sandwich. Again we could not find anywhere to sit and because we were hungry, we decided to sit outside!
Lol before you think we are totally crazy, the outside tables are covered by a roof-shelter and even though it was raining it was very warm, so as long as there was no wind blowing the rain sideways-we would be ok (and we were!).

After we finished eating, it was raining very lightly and so we decided to continue our shopping tour of Downtown disney!

disneyyy171.jpg

disneyyy170.jpg

While looking for a present for Dbf's younger brother, we decided on impulse to buy a Mr Potato Head with all the Disney accessories (for ourselves)! This is a bit sad for 2 twenty-somethings to buy but at the time we thought it was very cool. For those who don't know about it, you can pay $18 for a small cardboard box and then you fill the box with what ever Mr Potato Head accessories you like. We intended to get our moneys worth and Dbf turned it into an art-form, packing all the arms, legs, hats etc with exact precision so we could get the more accessories in the box! (Tip: you can store eyes and noses inside the Mr Potato Head body!). About an hour later we managed to close the box and were satisfied we couldn't fit anymore in!
Look at all the things we managed to fit in the box:

disneyyy172.jpg

and here is our infamous potato head, that we put in our window at Pop. Sssh don't tell Dbf that I have posted this photo because he thinks it is a very geeky photo but the photo makes me smile! He is wearing the graduation hat, that I bought for him.

disneyyy173.jpg

Anyway back to Downtown Disney, we had sent all shopping bags to the resort so we were bag free to go swimming at the waterparks!
It had stopped raining so we decided to go Typhoon Lagoon!

Unfortunately, it was closed! They were on storm warning and had closed the park. There were a lot of people standing outside the gates waiting to get back in and so we asked if the park would reopen soon. They could not tell us how long it would be until the park would open, if at all!
I got slightly upset, as I was really looking forward to going and I was still a bit tired (seeing as we never got the lie-in and I underestimated how tiring 4 hours of shopping can be) so we decided to wait and see if it would reopen. It must have been really obvious to Dbf that the park was not going to reopen (there were large black clouds all over the sky and the air was very humid), but he never said a thing and waited very patiently with me. He had some park maps in his bag so we started talking about what we saw over the last few days and our plans for tomorrow. We ended up waiting for 40 minutes and then it started to rain again so we got the bus back to Pop Century.

Going to cook dinner now, but coming up... the rest of Day 4!

It is NOT sad that two 20-somethings bought Potato Head parts!! LOL Me
(28) and one of my best friends (30) ALWAYS make sure to buy as many parts as we can cram into a box every trip. In fact, I am going to Disneyland in a few weeks and she said, be sure to check the Potato Heads for me and buy me what I don't have and then proceeded to make me a list of what she DOES have! LOL We always say they are for our kids, but WE are the ones who play with them!! LOL Welcome to the Club!

Thank you CrAzY4DL- I do love our potato head! We also wanted a Darth Tater but they had sold out! Next time ;)

So we arrived at Pop and it was still raining. In fact, it continued to rain for the rest of the day if I remember correctly. What a depressing day-weather wise today was! We were both hungry and decided to have an early dinner at Everything Pop. We both chose Chilli Cheese Hot Dogs with all the extras (onions, lettuce, tomatoes etc), bottles of water (which we kept for tomorrow for use in the parks!) and I had a chocolate brownie and Dbf had a cheesecake. We used 2 counter service credits and refilled our mugs.
:confused3 I am not sure why we both fancied this for dinner, as there were many other more appealing dinner options, but neither of us had tried sausages with chilli meat before (Is this an American combo? Or have Dbf and I led sheltered English lives and not come across this before?!) The Chilli Hot dogs were huge and surprisingly tasted ok!

America2006469.jpg

America2006470.jpg

We both finished our meals and as it was still raining really hard. Neither of us felt like running like mad to our room and getting completely soaked so we browsed the gift shop and admired the display of retro items in the Pop Lobby.
It was while we explored the lobby that we came across the Arcade and we had a look at the machines. Well we had to have a play so we bought $5 worth of credit (you put the note into the machine and it gives you a card with that amount loaded on it, which you insert into your chosen game and the cost is deducted from the amount on the card- brilliant as we had no quarters!).
Well, I played a few games and won a few tickets (they have the machines where it gives out paper tokens when you win a game, which you collect and swap for prizes) and had about 15 tickets (enough for a tiny toy bath duck if I remember correctly!).
Dbf had been watching me play and checking out how all the machines work. He decided to go on the machine where there is a timer and you have to press the button when the timer reaches 1000. Depending on how close you are, the more tickets you get. Well he wanted me to have a go first so he could suss out the machine, so I went on and is actually harder than it looks as the timer goes very fast! I pressed the button at 996 and won 10 tickets. I was very impressed with myself! :cheer2:
Dbf went next and I joked that he wouldn’t be able to beat my impressive score. Well I must have seen it coming because he managed to press the button at 1000! He won the jackpot of 500 tickets! :woohoo:

This is the game he won on:

America2006077.jpg

Its a bit dark but you can just about make out Dbf with his ticket winnings- lol!

America2006471.jpg

The machine then went crazy making a lot of noise and started spitting out the 500 tickets. There were some teenage boys who came over and started congratulating Dbf and asking for advice. Dbf felt famous for like 5 minutes, until tickets finished coming out. There was a queue for that machine when we left! We went to see what our 500 tickets would get us and discovered not a lot really! We could get some disney keyrings and many toy ducks. Some of the big prizes were 2000-4000 tickets. We decided to keep our tickets and come back another day (I really should wait for Day 6 to tell you but Dbf won the jackpot again on that machine when we returned a few days later!)
It had finally stopped raining and we quickly went back to the room before the weather decided to change its mind and rain again! It was near to 9pm and decided to watch tv and relax, as we had a busy day and wanted to make rope-drop at Epcot!
It was about an hour later, when my tummy started feeling funny  - I won’t go into details but Dbf also had a mild stomach upset and we both concluded it was definitely the Chilli Cheese dogs. We drank a lot of water for the rest of the night, trying to flush it out of our bodies and luckily it worked as the stomach upsets were gone by the following day. We avoided Chilli dogs for the rest of the holiday though!

Coming up in Day 5- Epcot, a great meal at Le Cellier and more rain (yes we were very unlucky with the amount of rain on this holiday!)

Day 5- Monday 26th June 2006

Our Epcot day!

After a semi-restless night involving a few toilet breaks (ok too much information!), we both awoke at 7am ready for our first day at Epcot! J
Dbf was quite excited, as when we were researching the parks, he thought this would be his favourite. I was told that the best chance of doing Soarin and Test Track is to get there as soon as possible, so it was another Rope-drop morning!

We ate breakfast at 8am and were happy to see Pop Food Court all quiet and the usual handful of people (Read yesterdays report for the comparison!). Dbf ordered a Pop Waffle, which came with sausage meat and I had a chocolate croissant. Both were very tasty. We both thought the Pop Waffle looked really cool (yes we are easily pleased-lol!).

America2006472.jpg

America2006473.jpg

So at 8.20am we were on the bus to Epcot. We were amazed to find that the Pop Bus Stop was ages away from the entrance (about 5-10 min walk ) and I made Dbf walk very fast so we wouldn’t miss Rope-drop. As it happened we had plenty of time and we queued at the turnstiles to get in.
We were let in, up to the plaza area where the fountains and pinshop are and held back by a rope. There were two crowds of people, one crowd to the left for people wanting to turn left for Test Track and Mission Space and one on the right side for Soarin’ which we were in! We saw the characters come out for the Park opening show and then the park was declared open! :hourglass

Woah… then there was a stampede of people running to Soarin’. I thought the crowds for Everest were bad, but it might actually have been 1000 people heading for Soarin this morning! Dbf told me off for ‘running’ too slow (what cheek). We got fast passes for Soarin’ before we entered the Standby queue. There were a lot of people in front of us in the standby queue and it was only 9.10am! I started to worry that we wouldn’t make the early showing of Crush at 10am (as again we were told the queues for this are terrible) and we debated with leaving the standby queue and just using our fast passes later… However, we were stuck in the queue, as there were at least another couple of hundred people behind us (For those of you who have been there, we were stuck in that long corridor). So we decided to stick it out. We got to the front at 9.30ish and were in the second row. I loved this ride! The smell of the oranges was gorgeous! Dbf thought it was good but not worth all the hype and long uncomfortable queue to ride (we were only queuing for 20 minutes but it felt like forever).

We went to the Living Seas next, determined to make the first Crush showing, but the queue was not open so we explored the exhibits and took some photos!

America2006475.jpg

Suddenly we saw people running to the Crush queue (they must have been waiting for it to open too) and Dbf being a star, also ran to join the queue. I didn’t even need to tell him to do so! It was only 9.45am so we had 15 min to wait in that queue but it worth it because we just made it into the Crush show (we were one of the last people allowed in. I am so glad we did not have to wait until the next showing). The people in the queue was probably other Disers, as they all had itineraries and plans for the day. It was interesting to hear their conversations- Women were sending their partners for fastpasses and one family had laminated itineraries all colour-coded. I was very impressed! ;)

Anyway Crush was ‘totally awesome dude’ and then we decided to get fast passes for Test Track and a quick drink (its tiring standing around in queues!).
When we were in the Living Seas, the blue skies had suddenly turned grey and cloudy and the air humid, you could just sense it was going to rain. As we walked back to the Imagination pavilion, it started to drizzle. We ran into a deserted Imagination ride and then we did most of the exhibits at the end too waiting for the rain to stop (got some very cool photos sent home J).
It was about 10.45am and I was aware that the World Showcase was opening shortly so we decided to put our ponchos on and brave the weather. As it happened, the rain was not that bad and stopped pretty much as soon as we put our ponchos on. Typical!
We made a stop at Ice Cool to try the drinks and managed to persuade Dbf that The Beverly was really very tasty… Hehe I am very cruel.

America2006477.jpg

I think this photo truely captures the horrible taste of Beverley! :rotfl:

As we were exiting Ice Cool, we saw a Character gathering and they were all on their own so we took the opportunity to take some photos!

America2006476.jpg

The Sun had come out again and we started our tour of the countries starting at Mexico and then Norway.

America2006479.jpg

We enjoyed both rides- very cute! It was now near to midday and our tummies were getting hungry! We decided to get fast passes for Mission Space, ride Test Track and find somewhere to eat.
After backtracking from Norway to Test Track, we discovered the Test Track was closed due to the earlier rain! Oh well, we got the fast passes for Mission Space and got some exercise.
I decided that I wanted to eat something different and suggested we try the food in Morocco. We got the boat across the World Showcase lagoon (It is a long walk from Test Track to Morocco). We pretty much had the entire boat to ourselves and it was lovely to have a sit down.

America2006481.jpg

Look at all the clouds gathering!

America2006482.jpg

America2006485.jpg

Dbf ordered a Chicken wrap platter and a had the Combo Chicken and Lamb platter. Both came with sides such as cous-cous and salad. We also got Moroccan deserts. The total came to $35, which we used our counter service credits for. The food tasted as good as it looks! Yum! I think this was my favourite counter service meal.

America2006487.jpg

America2006488.jpg

We sat outside, soaking the sun up, when out of the corner of my eye I see something moving.. I instantly cling onto Dbf scared, when I noticed these lizards. :scared1:

America2006489.jpg

They moved really fast and I was so frightened they were going to jump on me, that I made Dbf move to another table away from them! (yes I know they are tiny but they really gave me the heebie-jeebies).

We decided over lunch to take our time enjoying the world showcase at no particular speed, taking in the shows and soaking up the atmosphere. We walked from Morocco to France and to England. We bought pastries from France which were tasty!

America2006499.jpg

America2006501.jpg

Again look at those clouds, we really should have guessed that more rain was on its way :sad2:

America2006500.jpg

It was about 2.30pm when we noticed the World Showcase becoming busy, so we went to use our Mission Space Fastpasses and see if Test Track had opened.

Well the queue for Test Track was crazy, even the fast pass queue was over 30 minutes so we decided to do Test Track another day.
I then chickened out of Mission Space, even the green ‘easy’ version.:rolleyes1 Dbf tried to persuade me that it won’t be that bad but I wouldn’t be persuaded (I did not want to feel sick when we had Le Cellier for dinner!). So he went on without me and agreed to tell me how it was.
I waited for him in the gift shop and waited and waited. He eventually showed up deep in conversation with another guy! It turns out that he had met a cm on the college program and they got chatting in the queue. It was his day off and he was enjoying the rides at Epcot. We had introductions and he seemed really nice. He asked if we wanted to go on again, but Dbf declined, as I think he felt bad that I had been waiting for so long.
We decided to use our fast passes for Soarin and headed for the exit of Mission Space to discover it was raining… again! This time it was very very heavy rain and thunder and lightning!
The gift shop was packed full of people and really it wasn’t very pleasant being stuck in the small gift shop with wet soaking people with nothing to do apart from look at the same souvenirs again and again!
After 30 minutes, I had had enough and said we should brave the storm and run to Soarin’. Dbf told me it was a silly idea, as we would get soaked, but after another 10 minutes, I think he had enough of the gift shop and he agreed. We put our ponchos on, thinking it would protect us and like very crazy people started running in the rain towards Soarin’.

Yes we were very very stupid. It is a long walk/run from Mission Space to Soarin’ and we got absolutely soaked. The water from the ground splashed underneath the poncho and soaked my clothes through and it was cold. I was wearing converses and they got utterly wet and I could not even walk in them. We discovered Dbf had a hole in his shoe and his feet also got very wet. At first I thought it was hilarious in a aren’t- we-silly- way, but then standing in the air conditioning of the Land pavillion and feeling so cold, you begin to shiver, it really wasn’t that funny. We both headed straight for the restrooms where we tried to dry ourselves under the hand dryer and I rinsed my socks and shoes to try and get the excess water out. There were a lot of other people in there also wet, but none as wet as us. Dbf had a towel in his bag, which I used a blanket to keep my legs warm.
I think we rode Soarin’ once we had dried a bit and then we waited and waited for the rain to stop (which it didn’t).

Coming up.. Did the rain ever stop? Were we trapped in the Land forever (hey there are worse places to get stuck;)) and did we make it to Le Cellier for dinner! popcorn::

you do seem to have encountered a huge amount of rain !! i love your pics btw :)

:rotfl: AussieAngel- I think hes from Pinochio (how do you spell that?!). We saw him again later on in the holiday and he had no queue again, so I think quite a lot of people had no idea who he was (I do feel sorry for the character though!)

natalie - Yes we joked all the time, that we may as well be back in England because of all the rain (Our families told us that it actually sunny and blue skies for the week we got rain in Orlando! )

Great report :thumbsup2

  • I have a Potato Head family!
  • Some people wait 2+ hours for Soarin' - Mad!
  • Does the rain ever stop?

:)

Jodie

 Thank you Jodie, I cannot believe how many people have Mr potato head families :) Will hopefully post the rest tomorrow!

I think it is about time I finished off Day 5! :rolleyes1

The last time I wrote, myself and Dbf were stuck in the Land, very wet and getting cold and grumpy. The rain was still very heavy and we could hear thunder outside! popcorn::

The time was about 4.15pm and we had dinner reservations at le Cellier at 5pm. So it was decision time…do we go back to Pop and get warm and dry or go to Canada and eat steak and the famous Chocolate Moose?

Difficult decision!

Well being the mature 20-somethings we are, we decided on Canada! :upsidedow

So we both decided to ditch our shoes which were really pretty useless (remember I said that I was wearing Converses which were now soaked through and Dbf had discovered a hole in the sole of his shoe?), put on our ponchos and we both walked bare feet to Canada!

People standing in the entrance way of the Land called out ‘Good luck’ as we headed out the door, which was funny!

I really enjoyed walking in the rain with Dbf, it was actually bizarrely very romantic! There was no one around and the storm was dying down so the rain wasn’t that heavy.

We arrived at Le Cellier to discover a huge amount of people trying to convince staff they had reservations. It was busy! However, I told Dbf he has to push through the crowds and let them know we were here so our reservation wouldn’t be stolen!

Both of us then went to the bathrooms to dry off again! Luckily, it was quite warm in Le Cellier and although we didn’t dry completely, we were both only mildly damp!

We were called after 15 minutes and our waiter came and introduced himself. He was also in his 20’s and laughed when he saw us bare footed and looking damp.

America2006507.jpg

He talked to us about where he came from and the origins of the food. He also asked where we came from and was generally quite chatty! When he heard we were on the dining plan, he tried to interest us in the expensive food options but we had both already decided on what we wanted!

We both had smoothies (I had the Niagara Refresher- which I would recommend) to drink which were delicious and the Chedder Cheese Soup with the pretzel bread.

America2006502.jpg

Wow this was yummy! It was so nice to have something warm to eat. Very filling though and I was feeling pretty full already!

We both had steaks for dinner, I had the filet and Dbf had the 14oz NY strip. I remember enjoying Dbfs steak a lot more than mine. I only ate about half of my filet. I was feeling very full!

America2006504.jpg

America2006505.jpg

Seeing as we were on the dining plan, we felt as if we should order dessert, even though I could not eat any more!

While planning the holiday, all I could think about was having one of those chocolate moose- they look so so good! However, we noticed this was on the childrens menu and I was too embarrassed to ask for it!
So I ordered the Seasonal Sorbet and Dbf ordered… The Chocolate Moose!
Lol, He knew how much I wanted to eat one of those mooses! What a star! :cheer2: Our waiter, who was now a female waitress (dinner break?) said she would make an exception for us and allow us to have the moose from the childrens menu!
Dbf did however joke that I wasn’t allowed to eat his moose, seeing as I was too scared to order it myself. :rotfl2:

So dessert arrived and even though I was not hungry ended up eating nearly all of the Chocolate moose! :rotfl:

America2006506.jpg

The bill came to $105.97 and we were very glad we were on the dining plan!

The rain had stopped when we left, but we had already decided to go back to Pop, seeing as we had no shoes and were still damp.

There was hardly anyone in Epcot as we left and we posed for pictures on the way out!

America2006508.jpg

We arrived back to our room at 8pm, noticing that all the Pop swimming pools were still closed.

America2006509.jpg

Now the rest of the evening is a complete mystery to me, I have no idea where we went or what we did. A little spooky!

I know we tried to dry our shoes with the hairdryer in the room and it kept switching itself off so maybe we put our shoes and clothes in the tumble dryer? I really have no idea!

I am guessing that we both took long hot showers, used some snack credits, watched Law and Order and had an early night.

Tomorrow is our Mgm Day, also Sci-Fi dine in, monorail resort hopping, the electrical parade and only about one hours worth of rain (yay!)

I'm hooked! Thanks for posting your TR. Seems like you two had a great time despite the rain

Day 6

Tuesday 27th June 2007

We both woke up feeling refreshed and ready to go! We looked outside and to our relief the sun was shining (yay no rain…or so we thought! :rolleyes1 ).

We both ate full breakfasts today. Dbf had Chocolate chip pancakes and I had the Adult Breakfast platter- Which we both enjoyed, as they were freshly made in front of us. Again Pop food court was empty and we had the tough decision of what table to choose! ;)
I was very aware that we needed to be at Mgm for rope drop, as we had a lot planned for today (I made a very colourful plan of all the times of the shows so ensure we wouldn’t miss anything, slotting in rides and when to get fastpasses :teacher:) so we both refilled our mugs-Dbf with black coffee and me with iced cola (yes I know its only 8.10am but I’m on holiday and will have cola for breakfast if I want!).. So both high on caffeine, we board the bus to Mgm!

We arrived at 8.45am and were at the back of the crowd waiting to be let in- There was another opening ceremony but I was too short to see over the crowd.. Dbf, being almost a foot taller than me, told me it was quite funny though. :rotfl:

Dbf went straight to Rockin Rollercoaster, while I went to get fast passes for Tower of Terror. I sat down on a bench opposite Beauty and the Beast and waited for him to finish- About 20 minutes later, a very frazzled and dazed Dbf walks up to me.
“Wow that was amazing!” He tells me. He had a very glazed impression on him- Apparently he wasn’t expecting the ride to be as fast as it was. He also wasn’t expecting there to be lots of loops… Dbf being the larger, more stronger of us, is the pack horse and so carries the water bottles, mini first aid kit, chocolate bars, ponchos, maps etc in his ruck sack. Now, in our rush to ensure he was one of the first of the ride- He took the bag with him on the ride. He didn’t think it was a problem and just put it between his legs. He then told me he spent almost the entire ride, gripping the bag with his knees for dear life, as it kept slipping away from him on the loops and he was paranoid it was going to lose it! :scared1: He seemed very proud that he managed to keep hold of the bag with his knees!
So the lesson is, do not take any bags with you on roller coasters!

As Dbf was looking a little frazzled from the bag ordeal, we gave Terror of Terror a miss and said we would come back later and do it.
We then did the Great Movie Ride and then went to see the Muppets and posed in front of the fountain- I have a picture of me taken in front of the fountain from my last 2 trips (When Dbf and I started dating 3 years ago, I was packing away my things in my room at University at the end of the year and he stole a picture of me standing in front of the muppet fountain so he could look at me during the summer holidays. I only discovered this when I visited him a few months later and saw the picture on his wall! When I returned to Disney with my family a year later, I replaced the picture with another one of me posing in front of the fountain) and so we got a CM to take a picture of both of us together

America2006032.jpg

America2006033.jpg

America2006034.jpg

America2006035.jpg

After the muppets, we went straight to Who wants to be a Millionaire, where we saw a 15 year old boy take the hot seat! He was really good and reached $64 000- we were all cheering and clapping for him. Dbf and I were useless- We had no idea what half the answers were- They asked us about American TV and baseball teams- How are non-americans meant to know the answer?! I just copied what the American family did next to me and hoped they were correct! :lmao:

America2006036.jpg

We did Star Tours again and went for lunch at Pizza Planet!

I know it doesn’t get great reviews, but we both really enjoyed it. We ate 11.45am and so it was not busy and we only queued for 5 minutes. Dbf had the Pepperoni pizza and I had the Veggie pizza- They were $8 each and came with a side salad. We then had chocolate chip cookies and bottled water. The price came to $24, which we used our counter credits for, but we felt it could have been worth paying out of pocket for, as the pizzas were hot and tasty! :thumbsup2
We sat upstairs and just took in the atmosphere and enjoyed having a leisurely lunch!

America2006038.jpg

America2006039.jpg

It was a really hot day and very humid and we got more bottled water as we left Pizza Planet- The park was also getting very busy. However, we had a plan and so we decided to stick to it. We went to get fast passes for Lights, motors and then walked fast to Beauty and Beast!

On the way we saw the Little Einsteins and Dbf took a photo for his younger brother (who turned 5 a few weeks ago!), we also popped in for a picture with Mickey! :cloud9:

It was hot in the theatre for Beauty and the Beast, but we had great seats and both enjoyed the show!

We saw the Little mermaid after and then headed quickly to Lights, motor cars.

That’s where we hit the massive queue waiting to go in, we waited the middle of the queue for 25 minutes and it was extremely hot. :cool2: Everyone around us was complaining about the heat and no one understood why they were not letting us into the stadium so we could at least have a seat and be sheltered by the sun by the theatre roof. :sad2: It was so hot, that my feet were sweating and I changed into flip-flops. Dbf also changed into his man sandels! (After both our shoes got soaked yesterday, I packed flip-flops into Dbfs rucksack, incase it happened again!).

I also saw these wonderful shoes on a lady of about 40 years old and had to take a photo for you all! (I apologise if these feet belong to a Diser!)

Eventually they let us in and we saw the show, except we only saw half of it, as the guy in the car was off sick and his replacement couldn’t do the jump!

So after frying and baking in the heat for an hour, we left the stadium and had a walk around the back streets.

We bought more water and stood in the air conditioning of one of the shops, trying to cool down!
The park was really busy so we decided to just see Indiana Jones and the parade before dinner.
Well Indiana Jones was packed but luckily we managed to get seats, as they opened the disabled area! Another good show!
We then grabbed a seat by the pavement and watched the show, the heat had cooled down a bit and it was really nice to just rest our feet for 30 minutes watching the characters go by! :)

*Coming up.. The rain clouds hit mgm, dinner at Sci-fi, a tour of the monorail resorts and the electrical water parade!*

Great reports. We find putting your legs through the straps on your back pack helps to keep it in place on roller coasters.
