For a young couple w/out kids which would you suggest - Beirgarten or the Rose and Crown Pub? Planning a trip for just me and DH - we've been to both Germany and England so it would be kind of fun to relive our past trips together. Also I'm English and DH is German :) Any suggestions on atmosphere or food? I know both places have entertainment. Thanks!

Biergarten is lively and fun... and the atmosphere really transports you to a different place. Very talented musicians play live authentic music. I love the bells and the xylophone. They also have a buffet, which is nice for trying new foods.

Rose & Crown is a pleasant restaurant, but I wouldn't say it's particularly entertaining (though I do like their accents there). It does have some good food, but you do have to pick from a menu. One must-do here though: sticky toffee pudding for dessert! :lovestruc

Have fun!

Biergarten for dinner (or lunch, especially if you are paying oop: buffet is nearly identical and price is much less). You get periodic entertainment all day up on the stage, plus the atmosphere and the possibility of interacting with other guests at your table.

Rose & Crown PUB for drinks and pub snacks later in the evening. The only "entertainment" at R&C is the Hat Lady who plays piano in the pub. Very much a fun atmosphere for a young couple. The restaurant portion of R&C? Not so much. Food is OK, decor is nice, but no other "entertainment".

Additional suggestions for the OP: try Restaurant Marrakesh in Epcot, Ohana at the Poly (bonus point: ask for a table with a good Castle view, and set your ADR for about 1 hour before Wishes. Magical view of the fireworks), and make sure you go one night to POR to the River Roost Lounge and catch Bob Jackson, the crazy piano man.

For romance, schedule a carriage ride at Ft. Wilderness or POR. Beverages are allowed - bring wine!

this is exactly what I needed to know! thanks!!!!

We love both restaurants, but for entertainment, Biergarten is it for us.

We ate at Rose & Crown for the first time last month, and we hated everything about the restaurant. Since it was a very cool night, we asked to sit inside....big mistake. We didn't realize they were lowering plastic windows on the porch to keep out the cool air and had heaters to keep the area warm. Inside was crowded and so noisy that DH and I were unable to talk even when we leaned over the table to try to carry on a conversation. The drinkers at the bar were screaming and singing, but it definitely wasn't entertaining to us. A large group was seated near us with a table for the adults in the group and another table across the room for the children. Both tables yelled across the room to each other for most of our meal. We've eaten in pubs in England that were lively, fun and entertaining, but R&C seemed to be filled that night with rude people whose main interest was yelling and screaming. I watched one adult woman at a long table stand up, step up on their table, walk across the top of it, and step back down to move to a seat on the other side of the table. That was 3 different tables around us that were filled with unbelievably rude people. The food was mediocre to bad, and our waitress basically was non-existent after bringing our food and then bringing our bill while we were finishing our entree. We asked her if we didn't get dessert since we were on the DDP, and she told us we could have dessert, but she hadn't thought we wanted it, she was busy, and they were having a bad night! She made no apology for trying to avoid serving us dessert, and she made it clear that she would have to change our bill if we wanted dessert. She acted annoyed when we said we would like dessert since it was inclulded on the Dining Plan. The dessert was even worse than the entree had been, and I wouldn't eat at R&C again if gave me a free meal.
