I heard on the DIS podcast this past week that the food at Biergarten wasn't very good. What are you thoughts? How's the food? We have ressies, should I change it?

Wow...you have to take all restaurant reviews you hear/read with a grain of salt. People on these boards come from all walks of life / all different food and restaurant experiences.

We have always thought biergarten was fantastic. We have taken out of town guests there. We have taken very picky eaters there..everyone has always loved it.

The food there would be considered comfort food, homestyle cooking (for my family anyway, lol). Plus, you get that great show to top it all off.

We have visited Disney over 5 times and it certainly would not be worth the trip if we did not go to the Biergarten. If you go, make sure you stay for the music. Almost as good as the food. The variety of food actually allows our picky 6 year old to eat without a fuss.

 :cool1: :cheer2:

I love Biergarten. I guess it all depends on what kind of food you like. And, they've got pretty good beer.

When it comes to restaurants, I don't put a single bit of stock into other people's opinions, no less restaurant critics! Everyone of us has different tastes and likes. On top of that each visit to the same restaurants has so many factors that can make or break your experience. One time may be great, the next - not so great. Here's one example of my own personal experiences....
For a special birthday dinner we ate at the Portobello Yacht Club in PI. We arrived on time for our ADRs and were seated almost immediately at a wonderful table next to a window. The candle lit table in the small side room created just the right ambience. I can still remember those delicious little pizza appetizers served on a wooden platter - deeeelectible! The rest of the meal and the entire dining experience was perfect.
Fast forward to our next trip. We couldn't wait to dine at PYC again! We arrived on time, and waited another 40 minutes to be seated. We were escorted to a table next to a kitchen door near two tables of very tired kids with very unhappy, disgruntled parents trying their best to keep them orderly (and not succeeding). Our waiter was just as impatient - he obviously was not having a pixie dust day either. The same appetizer that we loved before was not as well done (crusts were not crisp this time) and the courses were served hurriedly.
Same two diners, same restaurant. VERY different experience. So if you asked me how I like PYC....I couldn't give you a definitive answer. Should I give you a reply on two out of three? Ask me after our next trip. :wizard:
As for Biergarten? What makes or breaks this restaurant for us is where we are seated. If we get to sit down in front of the band, it's terrific! If you are seated on the balconies to the side, it's very difficult to see and it's a completely different experience. If you are asking only about the food...it's good and we like it.

Biergarten ended up being the only meal I did not have to scarf down to be done in time to get my DS2 out of there before he got bored and crazy.

He loved the music, the food.....DD3 liked it too. When I was making our list for September, she asked to go back to Germany! :)

We have been there about 4 times and love it...it has been about 3 years since we went and DH just asked if we could drop Tonys and add Beirgarten to our last minute trip next month.

Another positive vote for the Biergarten. I especially enjoy the very large steins of beer! The music and entertainment is fun for the family too!

Biergarten is one of our favorites! The combination of food, atmosphere, beer and entertainment make this a must do for us:thumbsup2

My parents really loved the Biergarten and wanted the whole family to go when we were in the World last June. I wasn't too keen on it...I like sausage and kraut and "german" food, but it seemed like it'd be just "ok." Well, I have to say, it was GREAT! The atmosphere is awesome, nice and dark and cool, and the food was really good too. Kids even loved it and the band was great...everyone enjoyed it.

So, I give it a solid A.

We really liked the food at Biergarten. DH (plain meat and potato man) love the food. We enjoyed the entertainment also.

I also love Biergarten. Very fun and festive. Make sure you stay for the show. Oh...and the last time I was there, our German waiter was so good-looking that I was LITERALLY SPEECHLESS. LOL.

Biergarten has great atmosphere and food! Thumbs up!

It has been years since we were there but it was a blast. We were served the biggest beer I have ever seen. Some of the food was very very good like the sausages ::yes:: YUMMO! Some of the food was good but different than what I am used to so I can't say it was great. Then there were things I didn't wouldn't try like the cabbage :scared: But the entertainment was awesome. We were doing the chicken dance in the resteraunt. They took my uncle on stage but him in this costume and he conducted the audience in the chicken dance.party: You know any other place we would have felt like dorks  but @ WDW it was a complete blast.

Were there any details about the complaint? I generally don't put much stock in general complaints, it's a lot easier to see a real problem when you have more information.

I love Biregarten too. We have been many, many times and havent been disaapointed. Another good thing about Biergarten is you can usually walk up and be seated without a ressie or a long wait.

Can anyone tell me what time the show starts so I can time my arrival??
