Does disney cater much for getting on ride's in wheelchair's or wait whilst being transfered by my dad. are there any ride's which are definately no for wheelchair users?
thank you

Peter Pan and Transit Authority (Peoplemover) can be a difficult ride to load, as they really don't stop. These are the only two that come to mind that the don't/can't stop for wheelchair loading.

The other belt load rides, like Haunted Mansion, can be slowed or stopped.

He will need to transfer to a attraction wheelchair, and then step down into a boat for Pirates of the Carribean, and step into the Norway boat, he'll need to step into Test Track. Small World and Mexico have boats that can accommodate ECVs and WCs.

For some rides, he may need to transfer to an attraction wheelchair, or a standard ride vehicle, while the ride is stopped.

thank you, sorry it's for me. my dad will be lifting me, is that allowed?

Yes, it is allowed. Sue, the moderator here in the disABILITIES board, can probably give you pretty complete info on what rides work best for that type of transfer. :)

That is the FAQs for this board and has links to pictures of ride vehicles and other info.

That is the official online version of the guide for disabled guests at WDW but may not be updated recently or the info may not be correct. CMs and their bosses rule the parks not the people online so use that as a guide only and check with sites like this one for current info.

Another ride vehicle picture.

What rides are for people that are in a wheelchair? Chuck got some but there are more. All shows including ones like Hall of Presidents and the Tiki Room are ECV and wheelchair accessible.

These can hold a wheelchair.
Magic Kingdom
Jungle Cruise (ECV and Wheelchair)
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
"it's a small world"
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Liberty Square Riverboat (ECV and Wheelchair)
Tom Sawyer Island
Walt Disney World Railroad (Wheelchair and no ECV but they do sometimes let on small ECVs)

Animal Kingdom
Rafiki's Planet Watch (ECVs are allowed everywhere but on small booth and the affection area)
Wildlife Express Train (ECV and Wheelchair)
Affection Section
Kilimanjaro Safaris
TriceraTop Spin

Hollywood Studios
Studio Backlot Tour (ECV and Wheelchair)
The Great Movie Ride
Toy Story Midway Mania!

EPCOT
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Journey Into Imagination With Figment (ECV and Wheelchair)
The Seas with Nemo and Friends Attraction (ECV? and Wheelchair)
El Río del Tiempo

I think the guidebook is wrong about Nemo being ECV accesible and a transfer is needed but never rode it.

The riverboat and rafts depend on the water level. At DLR I was the last ECV allowed on board as the boat was too low for them to load. At DLR the raft was a couple inches high and I did not need a ramp but boy was it high on the other side and no way I could jump the scooter off the ramp. So you may have to wait to load on those two.

I hope that list helps.

Sure, your Dad can lift you for transfers. I have a 12 year old son with CP in a chair, and I lift him to load him for just about everything.

Like Chuck said, Peter Pan can be a little difficult, because the belt doesn't stop. And sometimes, I've had the CM at Big Thunder say something like "you've got to be able to load him in 30 seconds"...but other than that, we've really had no problem at all.

I used to work attractions in Fantasyland. Peter Pan is definitely out. Due to the ride design we can only stop the ride if it is in an emergency, so to be able to board you have to be able to take a few steps on your own.

For other rides, it is perfectly fine for your father to lift you. In fact, if you need help transferring it is required that a member of your party do it, os it's good that he will be with you.

Which rides you can and cannot do will greatly depend on your level of ability, especially how much control you have of your torso. Some rides are easy to trasfer, others not so much. For instance, Snow White is a huge PITA for people who have to transfer. There simply isn't that much room. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try, but be aware that many people really struggle with that ride due to the car design. Other rides, particularly newer ones, won't be as much of a problem since they are designed to have roomier vehicles and be easier to transfer in and out of.

I'm pretty sure they should not have told you that. The reason why we want people to be quick is that if you take too long the ride bakcs up and it may end up shutting down the ride, so we try to load as quickly as possible, but that does not mean that we should hurry guests like that. Snow White is a huge challenge for CMs because of this issue, but we were never to take that out on the guests who are doing their best.

We carry my brother onto everything (including roller coasters and the like)- the TTA and Peter Pan are the hardest, and we won't be doing those again unless they can change that. . . for TTA you would have to be carried all the way up - no elevator! Though it is going to be close for refurbishments for a large chunk of this year - so hopefully that will change. Hope this helps!

Actually at DLR's Big Thunder Railroad they have on two separate days in the past month have told me that I must be able to get over the edge of the ride vehicle, must be able to get down stairs in an emergency and to get into the ride vehicle in 30 seconds.
