Being sick is one thing, taking cold medicine is another.

I know NO ONE likes being sick, but I think I hate it most of all. I have had way too many colds, flus, etc. in my lifetime. So last night at work when I felt my throat starting to hurt and my ears starting to bother me, I was pretty annoyed.

Of course, whenever your throat hurts the most is when you *have* to talk. I did so many welcome spiels that my throat was on fire when I got home (but at least all of my gsts were happy to be there!) :) I decided to just nip it in the bud and take Nyquil pills.

I despise Nyquil. I refuse to take it in liquid form. I'd rather be sick than take that disgusting green, red, or orange sticky liquid. When I was a kid, I was always told I had to sit at the table until I took it...and I sat many, many hours at the table.

Taking Nyquil is like being drunk after you wake up. I feel loopy and disorented, and making toast this morning was a challenge. My fingers won't hit the right keys on the keyboard, so it's taking forever to type this (it seems anyways). I have these big, huge, deer-caught-in-headlights eyes right now and a really weak feeling in my body.

At least my throat isn't hurting as bad ;) But man, I need to hurry up and shake it off 'cause I have to be at work at 11:30!! :)

I cannot take Nyquil,It makes me feel worse after taking it.That is some Evil stuff:crazy:

I hope you feel better soon.

Poor Steph! I hope you feel better soon.

And I'm right with you on the Nyquil. DH swears by the stuff but I have to be at death's door to break down and take it. Then I have to plug my nose and have a glass of water immediately available. Yick.

:crazy2:

I have the same thing you do, Stephanie!:(

Sore throat and an earache that is driving me up the wall. ALL cold medicine makes me wacky - well - wackier than normal... ..... so I haven't been taking anything.:( I'll about ready to call the doctor, that's how bad my ear aches.

Take care - and drink some orange juice.

Try the Nyquil Liqigels. Works just the same, but no nasty taste. Also, Tylenol Sore Throat is amazing! It really works for a sore throat. (But check before taking both together, I don't think you can.)

I agree about Tylenol Sore Throat. It is amazing but so horrible tasting. As for a earache you a heating pad. The only time I feel this way is when I get a cyst on my tonsils then I need medicine from doctors. This happens 1 or 2 times a year and I have to take vicadin for the pain.

Oh, I can totally relate!

I am the worlds biggest baby when it comes to taking cough syrup. It will be my absolute last resort. I gag, I tear up, I plug my nose, I take a huge drink of water afterwards, it's horrible. I don't swallow pills well either so the gel caps aren't fun to take.

With all the technology available in this world I find it hard to believe they can't make a little thing like cough syrup taste better!!

They make amoxicillian taste good, make it taste like that!

I agree.
Personally I can't swallow pills, and Nyquil makes me sicker than the cold. It's too strong for me. Right now I've got a cold too, and because I can't take anything it's not good.

My DH would put his vote in for Tylenol Sore Throat but he likes Nyquil too! I think it's all gross!

I swear by Nyquil when catching a cold. I tried the cherry flavored one time. It was actually nastier tasting then the green stuff.

DH will not, no matter how sick he is, drink Nyquil. We found that the Alka Seltzer cold stuff isn't too bad. And if most multi-symptom things are too much for you it is easy to just plop one into some water and drink it. I like orange better than cherry though, but I think that is just a personal preference.

Nyquil is evil. If I take it I break out in hives all over plus it knocks me for a loop. I use Triaminic instead. Still knocks me for a loop but at least no hives.

Here's another testimony to the inherent evilness of Nyquil...Last time I took it when I was sick, it made me so dizzy I actually passed out in my mother's kitchen. No more Nyquil..

Hope you get to feeling better, Steph.
