Being Kind at Disney

We saw a cast member last night suggest to a guest that he put his kid on his shoulders for a better view. I was floored!
I'm not a big wait for parades person (I like to come across them and enjoy seeing them pass, but not wait and watch them in full). However, the one time I did (family member really wanted to see it), we staked our spot hours before in one of the allowed (and prime) spots and then right before it started, a cast member started ushering groups right in front of us in order to try and squeeze more people into the area. I was NOT happy.

At Tokyo Disneyland all the guests sit down for parades and other shows. It’s so much better, and something I wish would catch on in the US.
YES! Plus then everyones legs get a break! I remember actually using one of our fast passes back in the day for the night time parade, everyone said it was a waste of a fast pass online- it absolutly was one of the best FP uses we've had. The section was roped off and controlled by cast members. We all got to sit down on the curb across from the castle and NO ONE standing in front until the other side of the street. We got to sit through the castle , the parade, castle projection show, and the fireworks. No blocked view, no blocked pictures, and our legs got a good long rest. It WAS magical!

When it’s parade time, my husband and I will usually get a snack/lunch at Jolly Holliday and watch a snippet of the parade.

A lot of these do bother me, but this one is 100% the absolute biggest annoyance for me at DCA and especially Epcot. I will also never go to Epcot again on a weekend evening. And it's not just the festivals - we saw it on a random weekend in July, too!

(And I know this was posted in the DLR board - I just couldn't resist commenting.)
I totally commented not realizing it was a DL thread until I read your remark. This should be open to both parks, it's all true at both parks.

On our next trip to DL, I'm going to buy a balloon for some random person just for the heck of it.
This is a super nice intention. However, you might want to be advised that some people don't buy balloons of any kind on principle, because of concern for the environment. They are single use and have had a serious impact on wildlife. They might not appreciate your kind thought. I love the idea of buying a drink or snack for the person behind you in line!

Then they are welcome to just say, "No thank you" and I'll give it to somebody else. :)

We just returned yesterday from a 7 night trip. I have to weigh in as we had several groups where 1 or 2 people would get in line and then about 7 to 10 family members would then join them (I counted). The last time this happened (on Indiana Jones), there were about 3 people (after several had already cut) saying "excuse me" and trying to pass. My sister said, "are you cutting in line?" to which one of them replied that she was sorry. I said," you're not sorry if you know what you're doing is wrong and are doing it anyway." The group left and many groups around us let us know that they were happy we called them out. This is the first time we have said anything, but after it happened several times, we were just over it.

That being said, we met many more nice, friendly guests than rude ones.

Thank you/your sister for speaking up! I always have to remind myself that too, for every rude guest you meet or see 100x more friendly ones.

O-M-G....God bless you from here to forever, let me buy you a drink! I'm simply not one of those people that like any sorta confrontation, and rather not participate at all than to be in a situation that requires such confrontation. I would have openly applauded you had I been there.

Oh that sucks! And by a cast member no less, there's no way those folks could have felt there was anything wrong with it because it was a cast member afterall that led them there!
