Being Kind at Disney

To add, I can roll with most any mistake, the sudden stoppers and what not, even if it's inconsiderate - as long as it's not malicious. What really gets me are the angry people that you see ocassionally, loud arguments with not so Disney-friendly language or people shoving by you deliberately. That stuff is deliberate and uncalled for in every case.

Just finished my trip and had two pet peeves:

The phones: I hated when riding ROTR that I had someone filming in front of me holding their phone up and blocking my view. And on dark rides catching a glimpse of all the phones lit up in other people's cars.

And this one only happened once, but when eating outside of Alien Pizza we had a family doing a poopy diaper change on the table right in front of us (time two because they had twins, oh and no changing mat or anything). As a parent, I get it, you got do what you have to do, but yuck, not what I want to see when I'm eating (or think about who has been doing that on the table I'm currently sitting at). And also, there is almost certainly a bathroom with a changing table not far away at Disneyland.

I want to preface this by saying "I'm old". That said, I have actually seen more drunk "non-young" people at both DCA and Epcot than younger people. I hate seeing anyone who is getting so drunk they are causing issues. It happens too often. With Disney prices, you wouldn't think it would happen, but it does.
My experiences have all been involving/observing persons in their 20's. After reading your post, I thought hard but don't remember ever seeing an older person "disorderly drunk" at WDW. But.... I don't doubt what you said for a second. People of all ages are capable of making fools of themselves

The stupidest part about people doing this is that every single ride is available online, for free, in much higher quality than you are going to get from your phone. So, you could actually experience the ride without the burden of filming and the annoyance to others and relive the experience on YouTube. Outside of filming your family while not on an attraction, I don't understand the filming thing at Disney anymore. It isn't the 80's.

I remember my wife and I did get a bit annoyed at one point when we were visiting Warner Brothers Studios for the tour there. Whilst the tour itself was very interesting (and recommended) - unlike at DL, there were quite a few other visitors there who were using selfie sticks (I think DL has banned them). Consequently we ended up behind a group of visitors from the Far East who were using these, they caused quite a few problems - including being in the way - when we were trying to take our photos of the exhibits. This slightly dented our experience in one particular area - where the Batmobile vehicles are located, which have been used in a number of Batman movies over the years. Something to bear in mind, I guess ...

On star tours, I get easily annoyed when others in front of me are wearing tall hats. Sometimes I wish that tall people with Mickey ears would also pull off their ears during the ride. I know that’s a lot to ask, but if it was me wearing it I would most definitely be considerate and do that.

They should also remove their hats. 😜

I am not tall, but I do often forget I have my ears on. If ever I'm in front of you, please feel free to ask me to remove my ears so you can see. I'd happily do so!

Sudden stoppers are so annoying. I also really dislike it when people have large group discussions in the middle of a walkway. Step aside or find some tables!

Another thing that is pretty irritating are the aggressive stroller people. I get that it's hard to navigate a stroller through crowds, but don't just go bulldozing through people like you're more important than them. DH had a woman run over his foot with a stroller and he yelled "ouch!" or something to that nature. The woman in question didn't seem to care at all, no apology or anything. She just acted like it didn't happen and kept going.

This is mine, 100%. I am notorious for reminding my family to pull over while they look for fast passes, consult the map, check wait times, etc.
100% yes this. And don't have 1 person go in line and have 20 people join you later. Sure, I can excuse the 1 or 2 people that popped out quickly for bathroom break or snack, but whole family reunions is a little nuts. Wait until your crowd is together and then get in line.

Yes, strollers can be dangerous. Someone ran one into my daughter’s ankle in one of those Adventureland evening crowds when she was around 11 or 12. Scratched it up pretty badly so we had to go to First Aid. I don’t know if the person didn’t realize or didn’t care. I like to think that they truly didn’t realize.

I was going to say the same thing. The worse ones are those parents who are getting sloshed and they have small children in strollers with them. Can you maybe not get wasted when you are responsible for young children? My biggest pet peeve is probably those who just stop right in front of you and those who are walking on the left side(so your right side of the walkway), not paying attention and expect everyone to get out of their way. I have twisted my knee one too many times trying to avoid a collision when I am all the way right. So now, I just put my shoulder into it and hit them. I just can't twist out of the way anymore. If that makes me the jerk, so be it.

We saw so many arguments on our last trip, it was crazy. Not only at WDW, but my daughter and I went to Oahu and heard so many couples fighting. What is going on?

Families who walk four or five across holding hands and walking slowly.

People (usually teen girls) with long hair who flip it up into a ponytail while standing in a crowd, whipping me in the face.

The sudden stoppers and ride-talkers for sure.

Parents yelling at their kids. It’s rarely necessary or helpful.

All that being said, I find most people at Disney to be incredibly nice and polite. So when the rude people surface it is even more jarring. (Same for these boards).

My pet peeve is the person, usually a man, who is wearing a huge backpack in which he appears to be carrying all his worldly possessions, and then hits people in the face every time he turns around.
Guilty..... although I only do so if the people behind me creep up too close to me or my family. I usually ask first to give a little space.

If they ignore my request, I have absolutely zero issues using my backpack to create space.

"Oh, sorry, are you ok."

"Sorry about that, I was just admiring this light bulb"

They usually learn the lesson. :rolleyes1

changing a diaper in a restaurant is just ... wow.

Sadly, I have also seen this several times at WDW. People changing a baby's diaper on a table when there is a restroom within 20 yards. I would happily kick those people out of the parks for causing a bio-hazard. Can you imagine how sick people could get if some poop got on the table and someone touched it then ate their burger. There is zero excuse for changing your baby on a table where people eat.
