Haven't been here in a while (hello!) but wanted to crowd source an answer to a question.

So, me and my other half won a competition and are going to spend a week in a cabin in the woods in the Dordogne.

On the way down Ive secretly planned it so the break in driving is at Disneyland on the first day, and have got some day tickets as a surprise and a hotel booked nearby to crash in. Beyond a side comment of "Maybe we could try and go to Disneyland or Parc Asterix on the way" 3-4 months ago, (she got excited and told me not to get her hopes up incase it wasnt doable) She has no idea. :bitelip: ......I hope!!!

So my question - when should I let slip?

a before we go / when we set off

b on the boat

c drive to the gates and see how long till she twigs?

oh, and its her first trip and our first holiday!!

If my DH was doing this for me, I would love it if he picked "c"

only thing I would say is make sure she is dressed appropriately - especially shoes as it would be no fun spending a day in Disney in high heels:(

having said that I have actually seen woman in skyscraper heels - omg, their poor feet!

May I also say what I lovely chap you are for doing this:goodvibes

C definitely. I wish we had done that with kids first time we went. We are going for third trip next month and they are clueless but going to surprise them on the day before we go

C from me too.

Good man for treating and surprising your woman! The world needs more old romantics like us!

Thanks guys, that was my gut feeling too.

addverbaan - thats a very good point, but should be ok.
we used some Nectar points to get Asterix tickets for a break on the journey back up through france. so she knows we are going to A theme park and to plan accordingly, just not 2.

I like all of them and have used all of them when telling the children. I like A for the simple reason I think it s nice to have the excitement build up and plan what I would like to do / see whilst there, agree re the dressing appropriately too. I'm sure she would like any though.
We've just come back from the Dordogne ourselves calling into DLP on the way back, Dordogne is beautiful. Have a great time.
