Beignets?

I really liked the beignets at POFQ. I haven’t had any from New Orleans to compare against but I think they’re delicious. For quick service eating, these really hit the spot. Messy but delicious.

I was just there two weeks ago and was unwilling to stand in a two block line for a doughnut. Good luck though. Go really, really early in the morning. The French Quarter doesn't wake up early.

Actually, there is not supposed to even 'be' a line! It is open all around three sides and people seat themselves as they see empty tables. Only tourists seem to make a line. Don't see how they ever get a table as there is no one to seat you.

I have no idea what I'm talking about as far as authentic beignets go, but the beignet at Les Halles Patisserie is my favorite treat in all of WDW, so they must be doing something right. Soft, airy, and the chocolate is delicious.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

So just back from NO and I went to Cafe du Monde twice AND the hotel had some pretty good beignets AND I brought back some CdM beignet mix and made them for breakfast today.

Had them yesterday and they were awful. For years we've loved them and always looked forward to them. NOW they have changed the recipe and are not the same. We spoke to them about it and they said many ppl have complained and even the cast member said they aren't the same anymore.

Hope they go back but I doubt it because they still sell. Too bad.
