Beignets- Ok I give

The 'real' beignets on Disney property are not at POFQ, but at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney District in DL. The dough is shipped in daily from NO and the are fantastic.

My sister lives out there and one of her friends flipped one day cuz the dough had not come in and there we no beignets. It wasn't pretty. :rotfl:

To everyone who posted a repy on this: GREAT JOB and I am very impressed and you all get a gold star!!!
I'm a New Orleans native. The correct pronunciation, as many of these other Disfans have stated, is "Been-yay" and it is nothing more than fried dough with powdered sugar, but when you get there, if you want to eat it like a real "New Orleanian" (is that even a word???) ask for a small doggie bar, place your beignets inside, sprinkle the powder sugar inside the bag, and then shake it up!
If any of ya'll are ever in New Orleans-I'll treat you to a beignet in exchange for a Disney Pin :earboy2:
Have a great time!!!

I love your city.

beignets...this thread caused me to make a GIANT BATCH (using my easy super-simple just-add-water box mix from Cafe Du Monde) this MORNING!! I shared these with the neighbors, and brought over four baskets filled the with HOT/FRESH pastries dusted in powdered sugar like "morning snow!" Everyone RAVED about them later this afternoon! It's nice to SHARE with neighbors and friends. I will make some more FRESH tomorrow AM too! (I sent them with some fresh Strawberries and blueberries on the side of the basket as well, 18 beignets for each household! I've done this before, and EVERYONE loves them!! Mmmmm. So easy to make, so YUMMY to eat!! :goodvibes :wizard: :cloud9:

So what time should we be at your house for breakfast?

I grew up in New Orleans and now live about an hour away. If you want to try a similar treat, buy frozen bread dough, defrost it and break off small pieces. Then drop the pieces in hot oil. When the dough floats to the top and is lightly browned, remove from the oil and drain. Lastly, put powdered sugar in a paper bag(best) or a zip-loc, drop in a few pieces of fried dough and shake to coat. Its not Cafe du Monde but its yummy!!

:goodvibes Anytime you wish! I have a convenient built-in deepfryer next to my jenn~air, which only takes a moment to heat. Everything else is all set to go! Therefore, when ever you stop by I'll make you a fresh hot batch to enjoy! With a mere touch of a button on my capresso S9, in another 43 seconds you'll have your freshly made cup of hot java to help wash them down! :cloud9: This probably explains why SO many friends drop by here on Sunday mornings! LOL. :confused3
