Have any of you ever done this? My husband is a landscape designer and both he and my sons are science buffs. We've been trying to talk DH's boss into a business trip to the Flower and Garden Show. ;)

I've done the tour- it's very interesting overall, but some parts lagged. There was a lot of walking and standing, and some areas were not air-conditioned. It was VERY cool to be behind the scenes in the Land ride area! I got to feed the tilapia, which was fun. The parts about hydrophonic (sp?) gardening got a little dull for me, but your family would probably love it. (There were handouts!)

We got to eat some grape tomatoes that were grown there- other people have gotten cucumbers or lettuce.

The tour is very reasonably priced and they gave me a AAA discount even though I didn't have my card with me.

My mother and I did the Behind the Seeds tour. We loved it. Kids got to release ladybugs, we got to sample some of the fruits they grew there and feed the fish. I learned a lot of stuff, and they even explained how they did their Hydroponic growing and gave instructions on how to start your own Hydroponic garden.

Do it! I've done the tour a few times and it is fun and informative. Your sons are the right age to really enjoy it. Very young children might get bored. It is a good mix of science (they cover a number of alternative methods of cultivation) and whimsy (how they make the Mickey Mouse pumpkins, tomato trees, etc.). Plus its fun to walk around an exhibit that most only see from a boat. Plus, in the realm of Disney it's still a relative bargain.

We did it (my daughter was 12 at the time) and we all enjoyed it. Sure, it lagged at times, but it was interesting for the most part. I'd recommend it.

We have not done this, but had to comment as my DH is a Landscape Architect. We went to F&G for the first time this March and I tried to convince him to expense the trip. :lmao: It was him, not me that was taking a bajillion flower pictures!

I'm "dragging" my group to see this, too. :lmao: I have a black thumb so I find it all so intriguing.

I know Disney Visa offers 15% off the price. Does anyone know the discount for AAA?

yep, we enjoyed it. our DD was 11 @ the time and she liked it as well.

I particularly enjoyed seeing their hydroponics, and now am experimenting with my own HP system.

A couple of quick questions:

1) What is the latest time to do a tour?

2) Are any photos allowed, or not allowed because the tour is "backstage"?

3) Do you reserve a time for the tour during the same day or can you reserve a tour ahead of time like an ADR?

Did it years ago. We loved it. Haven't done it since we had ds. When he gets older we will take him on it as well.
