We are going the week between Christmas and New Years and have a lot of our reservations already made. I am thinking of doing the Behind The Seeds tour in The Land at EPCOT. Do you think this tour would be too boring for a 7 and 10 year old girl?

I went when I was there last, in 2003 and completely enjoyed it. It is very intresting and educational.

Have A Happy Thanksgiving!

We did the tour with our 9 year old daughter in August. We all had a great time and learned a lot. She was the only child on our tour but she wants to tour again on our next trip.
Enjoy!!

My kids love the boat ride, but were a little hesitant to take them through the tour. From the responses so far, it sounds like they may enjoy it. I guess we will give it a go. Thanks!

I think the younger ones would love it! I went in September and on that tour, I fed some fish, tasted one of their cucumbers, saw a tomato tree and how Mickey heads were formed from vegetables and learned so much in such a short amount of time. The tour is very brief, compared to the others, so this should really be good for them time wise.

In addition, they can also purchase a small plant to put in their rooms that is a mini-garden (you can pick which plant type you want). It is totally sealed so nothing can spill out. They let it grow until the gel at the bottom is almost gone and then they can replant it in a small container.

The tour guide we had was very nice and informative. Always answered our questions with a smile. You can also take pictures on this tour, which the kids might enjoy taking some of their own to keep them further entertained.

All in all, absolutely a "must do"! :thumbsup2

I took the tour in Sept. 2005 and although there weren't any kids on my tour, I remember thinking how much fun kids would have on the tour. You get to see a variety of different growing methods and plants. You also get to see the bugs Disney uses for natural pest control and you can participate in a ladybug release. The fish farming area is cool. I think kids would really be interested in the whole experience. Little, little one might be bored, but school-age kids would have a great time!

I loved the Behind the Seeds tour! We were each given a small plastic bag with Cinderella pumpkin seeds in it.

Thats cool. When we took the tour in 2003 all they gave us was paperwork for hydroponic(sorry about spelling) gardening. Are you going to plant the seeds?

About how many people are on each tour?

TIA!

marc1477, I wish we could plant them! DH left them in his pocket and they went thru the wash. :sad2:

bunnyfoo, we had 5 people on our tour, but only me DH and DD were guests. The other two were CM's training for the Living with the Land boatride. This was back when the boatride had CM's narrating. We just walked up to the podium about 5 minutes before a tour started and signed up.

I believe we had about 7 people on our tour. And if I recall correctly, they try to keep it no more than 10 to 12 folks.

We went in September when "The Land" ride was closed for refirbishment. I don't know if that was a factor but the tour was very boring for my nine year old who usually enjoys museums and who likes to plant things. She was the only child on the tour and the person giving the tour didn't do anything geared to her level. She did enjoy seeing the Mickey head shaped veggies and the fish. She also kind of enjoyed some of the bugs.

We did get a discount - see http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-specialtours.html for the possible discounts.

that stinks too.

The one thing that I could say about it is that it was OK for the old $2 charge. Not worth $12 though, IMHO....... :sad2:
